Just a toy
purchased on christmas, 5 months later ( or maybe sooner), and it doesn't show where north is. Good for pretend play only.

Great for Every Emergency
This unit is just great for any hiking or backpacking challenge. It is inexpensive and works well should you cell phone navigation unit fail to receive a good signal.Highly recommended for a backup in your gear bag.

Adequate for the Price
While this is certainly not the compass I would want if lost in the Yukon, it's a reasonable product for the price. We bought several of these to use in some basic compass and map training for our Girl Scout troop and they worked well and didn't confuse the girls with bad readings. As to pure quality, it's only a three-star item. But at this price, it's a good value.

Adequate at best, not for serious navigating
I bought this mainly based on its price, not expecting too much. I mean, how good can it be for under $7?At any rate, it's fine for practice, as it were, and most certainly better than nothing if one finds himself needing a compass. The build quality appears to be fine, all things considered. What I found to be the real drawback was the time it took the compass to settle, that being significantly longer than, say, the Silva Lensatic 360. As well, the consistency in pointing north is sub-par.Again, this compass is adequate for "playing around," but I would not place any real dependence upon it.

Don't waste your money
Doesn't know where north is.You will stand still waiting for it to stop swinging the needle, and if you move a muscle then you will blow its mind.

It works
The compass is reasonably priced, it was shipped fast and it points north - what else can you ask for...

Points at different directions for North
The compass is small and compact. However, it points at different directions for north. You would need to set it still for a very long time if you need it to align to Magnetic North. It gets very confused if you rotate/orient yourself in different directions while it is deciding where to point.

eGear Survival Essentials Lensatic Compass
Good compass. I keep it in my camping bag and when I get home from camping it goes in my 72hr kit.

Not worth the money
You get what you pay for. There's very little liquid inside and therefore the compass doesnt really work. My son was very disappointed. It ended up in the trash and now hes saving for a real compass that works

price - quality
let the designer put it into his/her pocket and keep it there for a week and then tell us all was it suitable? was not it heavy?

Rubbish!
Looks the business, it's not!Every time I adjust the case to match the needle the needle re-positions.

Sturdy and accurate.
Definitely not going to compare to an all metal professional compass but these are pretty close. Quite accurate for map navigation. Will have to see how it holds up over years of use on the trails.
