TWA FLIGHT 800 is a thought-provoking ninetyminute documentary about the ill-fated Trans World Airline Flight 800 to Paris, France, which exploded on July 17, 1996 just 12 minutes after takeoff from JFK International Airport, killing all 230 people on board. The special features six former members of the official crash investigation breaking their silence to refute the officially proposed cause of the jetliner's demise and reveal how the investigation was systematically undermined.

A Bomshell That We All Suspected
For my generation Vietnam planted a seed of distrust. Watergate cultivated it further. The Iran-Contra thing basically sealed it if someone who you had total trust and belief in (Reagan) went dark too. So why wouldn’t the public be lied to anytime anywhere if it served whoever was in power at the time. That would include anything including innocent lives lost in a horrific aircraft accident.TWA 800 is such a grey area in what the public was fed as to the cause of a major aircraft disaster at home. This brings up something I think is inherently wrong about an aircraft investigation where a criminal act is suspected. The F.B.I. should never be the only lead in an aircraft accident investigation. The N.T.S.B. should share lead with the F.B.I. and the A.T.F. agencies when criminal acts involving explosives is involved. This could work like our own government supposedly is based on with three bodies to provide checks and balances. Instead, here as shown by the ever changing agenda of the F.B.I., other agencies where kept out and the truth was being written to suit someone outside the investigation. So much is so wrong with the official investigation results of TWA 800. As an American I’m repulsed by the clear lies and mis-information told explaining the crash of the airplane. I can’t even begin to imagine how one who has lost a family member would feel. Those folks should cede from the U.S. on grounds they’ve been betrayed by their own country. Jim Kallstrom is obviously a bought company man and he insults those who have heartache over the loss of loved ones. When I see his face on the F.B.I. Files show representing the agency I feel for the agents he’s the talking head for. His lies about TWA 800 reveals the worst of the agency and I believe it insults the hard working honest agents on the ground. If he had a backbone he’d have never went along with the lies about this horrific coverup and snow job. Kallstrom didn’t just drink the Kool-Aid…he was mixing it and force feeding it to all. His statement: “not a missle, never will be” became the mantra of burying the truth for the official government line…obviously a huge lie. I have no respect for Kallstrom.Bottom line: this is the best report we’re ever going to get on the destruction and crash of TWA 800. It 100% flies in the face of the official report. It strongly suggests an outside event, most likely an explosive missile, caused the destruction of the aircraft. I remember a long time ago Coast to Coast AM did a show with a man whose wife was a TWA flight attendant. He said there was definite evidence of nitrates by some seat fabric he was able to, apparently, illegally secure. He went to jail because of it. He wrote a book calling out the official report. His wife was fired. He was castigated by every avenue available to the government. He was one of the first to call the whole report a bogus fairytale. I can’t remember his name. This film fully exonerates this man. It goes further, much further. It basically makes it concrete that we, the public, was purposely misled. The flight of TWA 800 was brought down by an external missile. That missile may have been an accidental event by our own armed forces. It was much more likely than a terrorist event. This is stuff that is explosive in indicting our own government. The horrid truth isn’t that the military can’t make catastrophic results, but the tif it did it would go further and cover it up. That is exactly what this documentary so eloquently puts forth. I have no doubt that the plane itself was in excellent working order. The plane itself was not at fault. The fault was so blackening to our own government that they did what had only been called upon rarely (think JFK) and whitewash the whole event. Boeing is strangely silent in all of this. Boeing is 100% in bed with the government. Perhaps this shouldn’t be so unbelievable. Boeing wasn’t at fault but was strangely silent. The 747 is by far the safest aircraft per passenger miles ever manufactured. Boeing has a lot to defend, but the biggest part was the continued relationship with the government. Flash forward to current times. The 737-8 Indonesian crash. Boeing is still in bed with government. This aircraft is a killer. Yet if it was labeled as such an American manufacturing icon could be dusted if this information was made factual. Boeing has leveraged this government association to the max and the question now is if the public will be protected by the total grounding of an important aircraft that has great potential to kill…or will it live to continue to fly? Personally I have no doubt that Boeing will be protected by our our governmental services sworn to protect us. The almighty dollar and the large save face of an icon is at stake. The public will once more be snowed. If we don’t wake up. This film should be a big wake up. It’s excellent. It’s fearless. It’s the unvarnished truth. Do you want to admit the truth is something you never wanted to believe?

Debunks Myths, Presents Facts
The NTSB's "mechanical failure" explanation never made any sense. Center wing tanks don't just explode in mid-flight, especially not from a short circuit outside the tank. This had never happened before, and it has never happened since. It didn't happen with TWA 800.The NTSB could not even identify an alleged ignition source for this supposed short circuit, much less offer a credible explanation for how energy from this short circuit could have entered the center wing tank. The wiring in the center wing tank was specifically designed to prevent sparks from occurring, and none of the recovered wiring showed any sign of pre-flight damage. The NTSB was reduced to floating the ridiculous theory that huge deposits had built up on the electrodes and that electricity from the supposed short circuit magically traveled over the deposits to get into the center wing tank. This is fairy tale material.Over 100 eyewitnesses saw an object heading upward from ground/sea level toward TWA 800 before the plane exploded. They described this object as a flare, a rocket, a firework, or a missile. Some saw smoke trailing behind the object. Others saw flames. Some saw both. It depended on where they were and how long they observed the object. These witnesses were in a wide range of locations; some were on the beach; some were farther inland; some were on the water; and a few were even in the air on other aircraft. It is preposterous to claim that all of these people were "mistaken," that they all suffered the same astonishing "misperception."Contrary to the NTSB's repeated claim that they found no evidence of a missile, there was plenty of evidence that a high-order explosion occurred outside the plane. What evidence? Inward-penetrating holes in the fuselage, random injury patterns to passengers and seats in the passenger cabin (wholly inconsistent with a center wing tank explosion), a large segment of the center wing tank floor blown upward/inward, severe structural damage and two inward-penetrating holes in a wing leading edge rib, severe structural damage to the nose landing gear, and dozens of EGIS 3000 detections of explosive residue on parts of the wreckage (the FBI and the NTSB ludicrously dismissed all but three of these detections as "false positives.")The NTSB apparently felt compelled to acknowledge that three of the EGIS 3000 detections of explosive residue were valid. The NTSB attempted to explain these detections with the phony story that bomb-sniffing training had been done on the TWA 800 plane in St. Louis about five weeks earlier. This claim was debunked even before the NTSB report was published, yet the report repeated it.The bomb-sniffing training was done on a different Boeing 747 at the St. Louis airport on June 10, 1996. Both pilots of the TWA 800 plane that day confirmed that no bomb-sniffing training was done on the aircraft. The TWA 800 plane departed for Hawaii at 12:35 PM that day. The police officer who conducted the training confirmed that he did the training on an empty plane, starting at around 11:45, and that he saw no crew members, vendors, or passengers on the plane. He did not leave the plane until around 12:10 or 12:15. The TWA 800 plane had crew members on board by 11:30 and began boarding passengers by 12:05.

Good Documentary Techniques; Big Claims and Need to Find Out More
First of all, regardless the cover-up theory is true of not, this documentary is very convincing and well made. It interviewed an extensive among of officers and eyewitnesses of the event. The evidence and arguments were comprehensive. It follows some good principles of making persuasive arguments.Secondly, I would say it is up to us viewers to find out more. Despite the fact that I found the documentary quite convincing, I cannot say I believe it fully. It was a big claim they made. I know CIA, FBI and NTSB but I don't know any witness, maker or even the TV channel of this documentary, why would I believe you? Nevertheless, I was glad to see the maker himself came out to state that he made this documentary. At least, he wasn't afraid that viewers like me would become suspicious about the show. And I was indeed becoming suspicious from that point. However, I was impressed when the maker said "don't believe me, look at the facts". Yes, if I want more facts, I will look OUTSIDE of this documentary, researching names, reports and hearings (probably interview the eyewitnesses for those of you who are more interested). But so far it seems to me the intention of this documentary has been honest, different from many of the conspiracy stuff I have seen. I haven't done much research yet thus haven't chosen a side. Since I couldn't say much about the truthfulness of this documentary, I would give a 4 star for now.
