Excellent Resource for All Catholics
This is a wonderful two book set of the lives of Saints, suitable for all Catholics. I purchased the book recently and already quite enjoy it. Volume 1 features the Saints arranged for every day of the year so that they correspond to the current Liturgical Calendar (i.e. so that the Saint for today, October 15th is St. Theresa of Águila, whose feast day is today). Volume 2 is just additional Saints, something of a 'bonus' set, but it's quite valuable as well. In general the articles about the Saints don't go into a very large amount of detail, more a general overview of their lives and what they did. It is therefore more suitable for lay Catholics (if you're a seminarian, it might not be as useful, but perhaps even still you could get some use out of it). So, how to use it? I would recommend reading the Saint of the day from Vol. 1 each morning to have someone to keep in mind throughout the day. You can go to Vol. 2 as you get familiar with volume 1 or if you just want more saints to read about. In general, it makes an excellent introduction to Hagiography for general Catholics. How does it compare to other similar works? In my opinion it's the best such set that I know of to start learning about the Saints, and would be especially excellent for children, converts, or under-catechized Catholics, due to the relative lack of depth in the articles, which could be seen as either a virtue or a deficit. If you want something more substantial, Butler's Lives of the Saints is probably what you're after, with these caveats: 1. It's difficult to find an edition that hasn't been edited beyond recognition. 2. He used the previous Liturgical calendar, which has since been majorly changed since the Vatican II era. In general, I would recommend this book for all Catholics seeking to gain a deeper understanding of their faith, while noting that the articles don't go very far in-depth. As a final note, the pictures are very nice.

Lovely Books & Very Informative
Nice, quality, hardback books. Though compact in size, the print isn’t too small but a good size for reading, at about 10 point. Various illustrations throughout, smyth-sewn binding and a ribbon marker, all help make these books aesthetically pleasing. Protected and kept in a nice presentation box. Both volumes are very informative, the first volume features all the familiar saints and the second volume many other lesser known but equally inspiring saints! Each book has an alphabetical index by saints name, one for every day of the year and I like the way the information is written, in a more adult style, being suitable for older children and teens too. These were delivered the next day by Amazon Prime. Perfect, thank you!

Better than expected.
When I ordered these I thought they would be bigger. However they're just the right size, read abit of volume 1. Handy for me as I'm just learning.
