High quality, bio-available form of magnesium from reputable company; Great value for the price; Highly recommended
Out of all the supplements I take, magnesium is the one that I'm most confident has a definite positive impact on my health. If you just read about all the things that magnesium is responsible for regulating in our bodies, it's pretty incredible. Combine that with the fact that many, many people don't get nearly enough magnesium due to its depletion from the food sources we traditionally obtained it from and the crappy diet of the average person in Western society and it's no wonder that so many people experience many symptoms of magnesium deficiency. In my case specifically, I've had trouble falling and staying asleep ever since I was young. Even as a fit and overall healthy teenager who played several sports and had a health-conscious mom I remember lying awake for hours many nights, unable to fall asleep. Worse, many times after I did get to sleep I would wake up constantly throughout the night and never achieve the deeper sleep that's so important for our brains. I can't count the number of times I went to school feeling tired, and how often I had to fight to keep my eyes open during class. This continued on into my adult years until recently, after I developed an interest in nutrition and began researching it in my spare time as a hobby. After reading learning about magnesium's role in our body and how often people don't get enough of it (and specifically how important it is for sleep quality) I began supplementing it and immediately noticed results. When I take a high quality magnesium supplement I'm able to fall asleep much more easily and I sleep MUCH more soundly throughout the night. It's really, really easy to prove anecdotally, in my case. On days that I take magnesium I sleep better. Whenever I don't sleep as well, I can invariably trace it back to forgetting my supplements the day before. Now, the most important part of all this (in my opinion): taking a HIGH-QUALITY magnesium supplement. This is where you have to be careful. Bio-availability is critical when supplementing vitamins and minerals. If your body can't absorb what you're taking, you're not going to benefit and it can actually have negative side effects. For instance, several forms of magnesium (often the cheapest to produce and therefore the ones that get used in low-quality supplements) are actually used as laxatives. It's important to take magnesium in a form your body can readily absorb and which won't cause gastric issues. The forms of magnesium used in this product, magnesium glycinate and magnesium malate, are two of the more bio-available forms and are also gentle on the stomach. I've previously taken the slow-release magnesium supplement from Jigsaw, which is also terrific. However, it's quite a bit more expensive than InnovixLabs' magnesium and I haven't experienced the slow-release mechanism to actually make a difference.I also like this product specifically because I feel that InnovixLabs/OmegaVia are a trustworthy company that produces high quality supplements. I've used their fish oil in the past and take their Vitamin K-2 supplement regularly. One of their co-founders, Vin Kutty, writes very informative and well-sourced nutrition and supplement-related blog posts on the OmegaVia website that have been extremely useful to me in my pursuit of nutrition information. I have a lot of confidence in the quality of their products due to how much effort Mr. Kutty puts into freely sharing his extensive knowledge, and his obvious passion for evidence-based nutrition and health science.Overall, I think that magnesium is one of the supplements that almost everyone should consider taking, and there's a lot of supporting evidence for this if you care to look. I trust InnovixLabs to produce quality products, and have had very good results with this one specifically. It makes a noticeable difference in the quality of my sleep. My wife has long had issues with muscle cramps and minor restless-leg symptoms during the night (both potential signs of low magnesium levels). Since she began taking magnesium supplements those issues have completely ceased. I highly recommend this product.--------------------------Update with some more anecdotal evidence:Since I wrote this review both my parents have begun taking magnesium as well. My dad takes a lower-quality brand you can find in supermarkets and my mom takes this specific product. They've both experienced very positive results in a short period of time.My dad goes for long runs/hikes in some foothills near their house. He was constantly getting horrible muscle cramps during or after he got home. After he mentioned this to me I recognized it as a common issue associated with lack of magnesium and suggested he test a supplement out just to see if anything changed. He went and bought one of the more widely-known brands from a nearby store and since starting to take it hasn't experienced a single cramp. My mom had similar sleep issues to mine and also had just read about the benefits of magnesium and chronic lack of it in most peoples' diets. She asked me for a recommendation for a brand to try and I suggested this one. She noticed immediate positive effects in her sleep quality and overall feeling of energy since starting. So, totally anecdotal but I still highly recommend magnesium supplementation in general and this product specifically.

Plays well with vitamin D
Found my way to magnesium after adding high-dose vitamin D to my diet (tested low) and then experiencing dull headaches and leg cramps almost daily for a month. Magnesium is one recommended antidote. Had no idea that so many types of magnesium are available, so I spent many hours learning about this interesting mineral in all its facets. I usually experience side effects from any new supplement, which is why I take so few, so I chose this particular formula to minimize potential digestion issues. I expected the worst but have nearly all good news to report.Mild stomach upset for the first few days (taking one cap per day) and then mostly smooth sailing even as I slowly increased the dose. Headaches and leg cramps almost gone after three weeks' use. Bonuses include noticeably deeper sleep and a pronounced feeling of relaxation for hours after taking a dose. Smooth capsules, no powder residue, no taste, no smell. And surprising for my sensitive system in particular, no long-term side effects so far. Do note that magnesium supplements in general tend to have a laxative effect, which in this case is very mild (good or bad depending on your need). Overall, excellent results here from an obviously high-quality product.RESEARCH NOTE FOR ANYONE NEW TO MAGAfter reading all I could handle in a few days, I was considering two mag options: glycinate (for general relaxation) and malate (for body-ache relief), both among the gentlest and most absorbable forms. Finding both in one formula was an unexpected win for me, and the results have clearly met my needs and hopes. Yours may be different, of course, so do take some time to learn about the different mag types, each with a slightly different physiological effect. (For instance, mag citrate might be a better choice if you're seeking a stronger laxative effect.) If you're too busy for more research, rest assured that this formula's two mag forms are at least among the top recommendations of virtually every reputable research source I found. Not having to choke down a big tablet may be another plus.DELIVERY UPDATEI contacted Innovix this week (August 6, 2015) about the current out-of-stock situation. I received prompt assurance that the product will re-stock here around September 1. I hope this doesn't become a pattern.

Learning
I began researching reasons for recent, unexplained, swollen ankles. I'd recently begun taking Aleve for chronic hip pain and now see that swollen ankles can be a side effect of Aleve. Then I researched how to resolve this, as no suggested remedies were working...and I began to learn about the importance of magnesium in our bodies - an 'ESSENTIAL Mineral' and that LOW magnesium could also cause swollen ankles. Magnesium levels do NOT show up in blood tests. And MOST people have low magnesium levels - an essential mineral! So I stopped Aleve and began magnesium - voila! But now how to manage the pain? My research showed there are different types of magnesium and what the different types do, and I was able to determine which types would most benefit me (I also have IBS). I discovered THIS product and read the encouraging reviews, and learned that this company has a 3rd party evaluating the product. This product contains two types of magnesium (glycinate and malate - helping chronic pain, energy, blood sugar, muscle recovery, regularity, and is also chelated (i.e., improved absorption).I've been taking this for two days and already my ankle swelling has subsided and pain has reduced - a process for sure. It is amazing how few people get enough mag in their diet. Amazing facts; amazing product.
