We bought this because we were having problems with hoards of sparrows devouring our cheaper bird feed. They do seem to be mostly uninterested in the striped sunflower, while cardinals, nut hatches, chickadees, woodpeckers, etc, visit often. Squirrels will go to great lengths to get it, and mourning doves like it too. So bird feeder design is important as well. There is some stalk pieces in the seed, probably pieces that made it through the harvester. Over all a great product!

I am holding about a dozen parrots for a local wildlife rescue group and it is made up primarily of Macaws and Amazons. They love their sunflower seeds. Because of the current pandemic and many, many "non essential" businesses are closed. I have had problems getting supplies. I finally found these seeds on Amazon and ordered a bag. I was extremely disappointed when this shipment arrived today. The sunflower seeds are tiny, more suitable for birds the size of cockatiels, parakeets or lovebirds and not for larger parrots such as those mentioned above. I am going to have to continue my search as these are not worth the price. I wish that their advertisement had made mention of the size factor. Was a waste of money for me.

I love to take of the birds in the cold months. Thought I would try these seeds, I used them years ago and now hard to find. The price is higher then I wanted to pay, but what haven’t gone up in price.

It's too late now because I've already opened the bag, but these "striped sunflower seeds" which are supposed to be at least twice the size of the black oil sunflower are literally the same size as black oil. Yet way higher priced. I buy the striped specifically to keep the smaller flocking birds away, letting the chickadees and titmice and nuthatches have a fighting chance. But these seeds are literally miniscule! My normal brand was unavailable---I would have been better off just going to the feed store to get bona-fide striped sunflower. Never again for this brand. You're paying striped prices for black oil.
