Good read, great art
Excellent graphic novel on Picasso. Standard time period that most books cover - in Montmartre with his friends before blvd Clichy.

Beautiful artwork and a great narrative on Picasso's life
Beautiful artwork and a great narrative on Picasso's life. I LOVE this series and I am collecting them all. Van Gogh has been my favorite so far; but this one is HUGE and I like that. Item was packaged well and arrived safely. Thanks!! Will do business again :)

If you love art and if you love drawing and if you love Picasso! this book is a winner! It was a bigger book than I expected, but it got me away from the television for a long time and that is always a good thing!

Marvellous, insightful and highly enjoyable
What a marvellous book! Get it now.'Pablo' tells the story in strip cartoons of the young Picasso arriving in Paris in 1900, up to his revolutionary modernist breakthrough with the painting which was eventually entitled Les Demoiselles d'Avignon, apparently first called 'Bordello' by Picasso. The story is told from the point of view of Fernande, Picasso's beguiling girlfriend for most of this period. The drawings are stunning, lively, strong on emotion, historical detail and sensuality. Picasso is convincingly drawn as single-minded, wide-eyed, deeply instinctive and sensual. There are a host of credible, bohemian other characters, including Apollinaire, Gertrude Stein, Matisse and Henri Rousseau. The focus is on the human story, notably Picasso's friendships, rivalries and obsessions, out of which grew his art - and on Fernande's changing relationship with the compulsive Catalan. The translation by Edward Gauvin is fresh and contemporary, and seems very good indeed to me (but I haven't read the original French edition).
