Covers everything. If you're interested in mysticism, get this book and read it. This may not be the best edition to get because the footnotes don't link back to the text.

After struggling to read this continuing text without enough breaks, I gave up, and got rid of it.

This book is a my new constant companion. I have never encountered the awakening process laid out so completely and without dogma.

If you are interested in Mysticism then this book has to be a part of your library and an important part of your search. At this point I have only begun the search and have read several other later published books. I can already see why this book is given such respect by those who have been searching. i'll tell more in a year or two!

An inspired classic in a class by itself. Huxley`s Perennial Philosophy has been compared to it, but his treatment is more of an anthological survey. Underhill is said to have been a mystic in her own right. It turns out that the nearly 500 pages are really two books in one.

This book is very in depth and written in the academic language of the day, a weighty subject and a weighty read, however still to be considered a masterpiece on Christian mysticism by a lady who undoubtedly knew her subject, for a clearer more transparent breakdown of this work I would strongly recommend you read, Growing into God by John R Mabry, he speaks in easy to understand language and use’s Evelyn Underhills Mysticism book ( amongst others ) as the basis for his own very illuminating work, so for Evelyn,( in my humble opinion ) it’s 4 stars For content and minus 1 star for being a VERY weighty read.
