Favorite Collars So Far, and They Should Be, For the Price!
Love these collars! Favorite Collars So Far, and They Should Be, For the Price! My basis for comparison is the Muscle Clamps, spring collars, and compression collars. The OSO collars are incredibly secure for a quick-release collar and seem very unlikely to come open accidentally. However, I'm not throwing my weights down, so I can't speak to how they hold up to that, but from what I've read elsewhere, they're solid. I've used them for ab rollouts with a barbell, and they haven't budged where both the Muscle Clamps and spring collars would eventually loosen and things would get sloppy. Compression collars wouldn't budge, but taking them on and off was a chore.I have no problem sliding them on and off my bar sleeves in either the semi-open or fully open position (similar in ease to the Muscle Clamps). I change plates often in my workouts and these are quick, easy, and don't budge when locked down. They don't slide on and off as smoothly as compression collars, but the lever is about ten times faster to open than the thumbscrews on those. The machined aluminum is great, not sure if the extra price of the elite collars and the extra machining on them makes much of a difference over the regular OSO collars functionally, but they look cooler (and that's important when you're drenched in sweat and shaking with exhaustion, right?). Since the design seems to rely on the natural spring in the aluminum, I'd say make sure you store them in the neutral (middle) position rather than the closed or fully open position or the aluminum could lose some of its spring as it adapts to those positions over time (this might not be an issue, and just my own paranoia since I'm not a materials engineer). The only criticism I have is that the locking lever is not also made of aluminum. Uh, why not? I'm sure the material they are made out of will probably outlive me, but still, come on guys, machined aluminum levers couldn't have been that big a deal to throw in for the price of these things. Let's just assume the synthetic levers serve some functional purpose I'm not aware of.I've read in other reviews that when you're opening them from the clamped position the lever can sort of spring open and it'll sting a bit if it whacks you on the knuckle. Well, yes, I've experienced this as well, and all I can say is, "Really, that hurt you?" If someone's that easily injured then I have a feeling their doctor would advise not taking up any kind of exercise program whatsoever outside of what they can do while sitting on their couch with a remote control. Perhaps this is why the synthetic levers rather than aluminum, they probably hurt the sissies less.

Fantastic clips! Also stop being stupid
These are fantastic. I should have bought these a long time ago. They clip on extremely tight and the weights stay in place. These are especially useful for situations where dropping the weights repeatedly is necessary such as some crossfit workouts etc.. Any time i ever used and spring clips or cheap clips. the plates eventually end up sliding away.A comment about people complaining about how much force the lever opens with and have gotten hit in the fingers, etc.... Well stop being stupid and you'll be fine. Why are your fingers in the way of it. I've never had an issue with it because I'm not stupid. Also people complaining about how it's difficult to slide on and off and close the lever... Well yeah, it has to be really tight to be effective. Why would you expect it to be any different. Again don't be stupid. But yeah, these are great!

They hold up for dumbbell handles
I bought these to use with my dumbbell handles because I needed something that made me feel confident lifting them over my head. These hold the weight really well. No movement at all and I'm comfortable lifting however many plates I need over my head for presses or doing triceps extensions holding the plates. They are a little hard to slide on and off. Not a fast change by any means so if you need that keep it in mind. The clip is easy to flip and I've never had it hit my fingers like I've read for some of these types of clips. The material is high quality and they look great but I wouldn't go tossing them around.

Returned product
When we relieved them they were not the same thing as the picture. It looked like a generic version of what we had ordered or they were just not made well.

They do keep the barbell and weights in place. ...
They do keep the barbell and weights in place. On one of my collars the latch seems a tad loose. Hopefully these last. For the price unsure if it was worth it.

They have great holding power and look really nice
I compete in strongman and power lifting. These are very solid. I had lock-jaw before so it took a couple days to get use to these. They have great holding power and look really nice. I am giving these 4 stars because they are a little difficult to get open all the way to get them on and off the bar.

They are very solid and super cool looking
I bought these collars for my olympic dumbbells. They are very solid and super cool looking, make the dumbbells look kinda futuristic. They are pretty tight so need to apply some force when you wanna open or close, and need to open all the way up to slide them on the shaft, but I'm pretty sure they hold plates in place very strongly.

Shoulda got these years ago...
These collars are solid, well worth the investment. Locks in place every time, and no slip every time. Been using them for some crazy workouts with heavy squats/deadlifts about 3 times a week and have yet to be disappointed. Much better than the standard gym spring collars. I've had people ask to use them in the gym, and they receive a "no, but you should check out OSO".
