Good quality at a very good price
In my opinion these tools are every bit as good as the name brand I have but at 1/4 the cost. The steel square shaft is a couple inches longer than the mid size name brand I have, and longer than I need for my mid size lathe, so I just shortened the wood handle to match overall length. The carbide cutting bit is very sharp and is holding up great

Hold them flat on the tool guide firm. .
I like these longer bowl cutting tools there strong and have good control, I have four of them and they are holding up fine. The flat surfaces hold them steady and the carbide cutters are replaceable.

Not clean cutting
The tool is a steal at this price, but you get what you pay for. It does not give you a clean shaving cut like a bowl gouge. Instead it scrapes ( it is a scraper after all) and leaves a less than desirable finish.

Handle is too long to use for penturning but ideal for larger pieces
I wanted a negative rake cutter but I should have gotten one with a shorter handle for pen turning. I will keep this for vases and bowls. Lesson learned.

Where has this been all my life?
I'd been turning epoxy pens using standard tools. Using this, the difference is night/day. So much easier with carbide tools and much easier to maintain than standard chisels!
