A true waterproof pant for wet weather protection. The Transit pant has been developed with cyclists in mind; however, this feature rich pant is adaptable to all outdoor activities: hiking, camping, skiing, snowshoeing, cycling, running, or just staying dry while walking the dog. As a 3-Layer waterproof hardshell, the Transit pant eliminates bulk, and is therefore extremely packable while on long outdoor trips. For ease of packability, the Transit pants come with a mesh stuff sack. With fully taped seams, the Transit pant eliminates the chance for water to penetrate the garment, so you can feel comfortable even in the most severe inclement weather. The Transit pants feature suspender straps for use with Showers Pass proprietary suspenders. To ensure that the pant legs do not catch in the crank or chain, the Transit pants feature Velcro cinch straps at the calf. Additionally, articulating knees provide a comfortable range of motion while on and off the bike. Ankle zips provide an easy means to remove the pants even with shoe on, while reflective trim ensures visibility while commuting at dark.

Great pants - while they lasted
I purchased them in late November, by late January the seam in the crotch was splitting, by early March the seam in the crotch and the rear was open and worn through. I took their advice and sized up, I never wore anything under them except compression leggings, so it's not like they were too tight. My commute is about 80 miles per week, and they lasted about 16 weeks, so I figure I got almost 1300 miles out of them. They worked great and I loved them, I just figured they'd last longer. If you're looking for pants you can wear every day in the winter, keep looking. If you're looking for pants you can wear now and then, they're probably fine.

the pants worked fine while cycling
Kept me dry! I used same brand jacket, pants and foot covers. I used it for a 10 day, 1,000 mile cross country bike bike ride. It rained intermittently for 5 of the days and several of the days I rode in the rain for greater than 5 hours at a time. Breathable? I did get moist from sweat under the rain gear but nothing compared to having no rain gear. A thin layer of wool clothing helped. Cold once the sun went down but not an issue with the gear. It is a shell, add under layers to keep warm. It's my first cycling rain gear so don't know what to compare it to. I did one previous ride with a military issued gortex rain pants which seemed to work very similar except the gortex pants were much bulkier. However, the gortex pants were not intended for cycling and I have no idea if a gortex cycling rain gear is any heavier/bulkier.2. Fit Perfectly. I'm 5ft 8 in tall, wt. 225 lbs. Many cycling gear sizing is extremely small. I can wear a large shirt at standard retail clothing brands but in many cycling brands I require 3XL-5XL. Showers Pass pant sizing fit my waist, hips, thighs as expected. Longer legs than my inseam but lets face it, most bicycle riders who are willing to ride in the rain have a thinner build than I. However, the pants worked fine while cycling.

Recommended!
I ordered these knowing I was going on a 3 day 250 mile ride and the weather didn't look favorable. Ended up being money well spent as it rained all of day one, and poured most of day three. I previously got a shower pass rain jacket and both worked amazingly well for how hard it rained, and how long I was riding in it. The first day the temperature was warmer, so I did sweat a bit. But the third day it was very cool (low 50's high 40's) and windy, on top of the rain, just a raw day. That's where this stuff shined. I was cool, but not nearly as cold as people in the ride who did not have rain gear; they were shivering, wet and miserable, I was just miserable. I don't know if I'd wear these for summer training rides when it's warm due to sweating, but when it's cooler and raining, they are great! They are a bit long so that when you're in the top of your pedal stroke they don't ride up and expose your ankles, these are made for biking, not walking. I would like to see a bit more reflective material on the calves for when I bike solo or in small groups, there's not much reflectivity to the rear. Only reason for one less star is I can't rate longevity, I only wore them twice for probably a total of 80 miles.

Best pants ever for the rain
Best pants ever for the rain! Lived and commuted on bike in Miami during the worst monsoons and never had a wet butt thanks to these. I researched a lot of my options before buying these and would definitely highly recommend these to anyone in need of some light to medium weight rain pants. Great company too! I bought the gloves which are fantastic and just bought the socks and hoping to try them out soon! Yay for bike commuters and riding through any weather!

Great pants!
Great design the entire way. Material feels a bit thick, but I also expect it to last a long time, and I don't really notice the thickness while riding. There is a zipper for getting shoes/boots on/off, and two straps of velcro to tighten up the legs so they don't get caught in the chain. The velcro is in the same area as the zipper, but doesn't cross over the zipper so you can velcro them down and still use the zipper to take them on and off.

Durability of replacement pants to be seen. (Previous review: Durability less than stellar.)
Update on my previous review: The customer service at Showers Pass has been excellent and I received a warranty replacement of the pants. The replacement pants fit as expected and appear to be better manufactured than the previous pants. And hence an upgrade in the rating. Can't comment on durability yet, as I only received them recently.Previous review:While I like the practical waterproof design, I am very unhappy with the lack of durability (bought them less than a year ago). The outer material and some of the seams in the seat / inside thigh area fall apart after using them for maybe about 100 miles total for commuting by bicycle in rainy weather. Will check out the warranty.

Best you can get - period!
Showers Pass is the highest quality rain gear available, AFAIK. It took five years of pretty much daily wear while bicycling (yeah, I'm seriously addicted to it - generally a 3 to 5+ hour ride EVERY day!) to wear my first pair out. Several million pedal strokes finally took its toll on 'em. I'd estimate around 30,000 miles of riding altogether to do 'em in. No hesitation in buying another pair. Like I said, they're the best you can get!
