Perfect companion for the Sony A7iii
Nice all-around travel lens specially when you don't want to carry a hefty lens - very compact and light. It also performs really well under low-light photography. Auto focus is fast and does not hunt. The only downside to this lens is the focusing length of 1.48 ft. It makes it hard to take pictures of food on table without you having to stand up. Overall, this is a great affordable third party lens for Sony.

Great Compact AF Lens!
*DISCLAIMER* To get the best auto focus with this lens you will need to update the firmware. To do so, you will need to purchase a Samyang Lens Station for Sony E Mount Cameras. It cost me $60 USD to get this. This lens is a great addition to my Sony A7Sii. I have been filming on nothing but manual lenses since I got the camera but I always wanted to see just how good the auto focus could be. To my surprise, this compact 45mm lens works pretty well! The software helps you fine tune how fast focus is pulled, allowing for some pretty cool shots if you have the patience. Quality of the glass is superb and the image you can get out of it is pretty amazing. The only complaint I have is about the need for a firmware update for the lens to be good to go. I tried shooting video before updating the firmware and it would take forever to adjust the focus. After the firmware update you can tell it becomes much quicker and more accurate on focusing. The motor does seem a little noisy but I couldn't hear it from the audio captured from my external camera mic.Overall, if your looking for a budget friendly auto focus lens at this focal length, you might give this one a shot. The only downside is having to spend more money to update the firmware. Might be worth looking into other Samyang lenses to see if there are a few you want to pick up making it easier to justify spending an extra $60 just on the Lens Station.

Very sharp lens!
This is a great all around lens for just about every situation. The only drawback on the small size is that it gave up the ability to do closeup macro shots. You need to be around 18" away to be able to focus.Edit, dropped rating to 2 stars from 5: My lens shipped with version 02 instead of the current 05. You will want the newest firmware or else its hit or miss with AF misses half of the time. Half the photos I took look fine in camera but are blurry when I load them into lightroom.Considering its been 2 full years since firmware 02 was released (2019-07-08), there is no excuse for this. Customers are forced to buy the $60 Lens Station to get fixes for AF on the lens, which effectively increases the price by 20%

Very good lens. Impressive for a 3rd Party brand!
We live in an exciting time when you can buy quality 3rd party lenses for Sony cameras for around $300! Everyone thinks that you have to buy BIG and EXPENSIVE lenses for Sony cameras. Thats not true at all. This lens surprised me. The only area it lacked was in build quality, its super lightweight and plastic, BUT I knew that from reviews and I actually prefer lighter smaller lenses. Thats the whole reason that I switched to mirrorless cameras after 18 years of lugging around big chunky DSLRs.This nifty fifty focal range is great for portraits, travel, street photography, landscape or an all around lens. This lens sharp, has good contrast and good bokeh. The fast f/1.8 is more than enough to blow out backgrounds and to use in low light, night photography. This lens is capable of PRO use and PRO results. You don't need BIG EXPENSIVE G Master lenses.

Compact lightweight fast
Great lens for the money, get it if you are looking for a small yet fast lens for bargain.Pro:- Compact- Lightweight- f1.8- quiet focusCon:- fine image quality for a7 III, but not ideal for a7 R III- bokeh isn’t exactly the best looking- Plastic, not weather sealed.

This is what I signed up for by going mirrorless!
Wow! I was surprised by how light, sharp the lens is. The rendering reminds me of my zeiss lenses somewhat.I’m attaching pictures straight out of the A73. Subject isolation is great and so is the smoothness of the background blur.I can’t wait to see what else Samyang can do especially if they continue to release F1.8 lenses.Sign me up for a 35mm F1.8 please :)

Discreet, lightweight treasure...
This is a sharp and lightweight lens that adds to the Samyang full-frame line that's especially marvelous for street photography. The lens is discreet, fast and when you shoot that decisive moment, no one will know you captured that moment except you as you walk along...

Quality lens...
This is a fine quality lens with a descent price. Its not your top-notch lens but it performs really well. At F1.8, it has descent sharpness which greatly improves as you stop down to F2.8. AF is competent both in broad daylight and low light although its not as fast as your Sony native lens. The out of focus background is smooth and clean. This lens is way better than the Sony 50 1.8 in terms of performance but priced a bit higher. Small and lightweight easy to carry around. Placed on the hands of a creative and skilled photographer, this can create brilliant images.

Works really well!
I moved to Sony from Canon, and have been using an adapter for my Canon lenses. So, it was nice to get a lens that's made for Sony and not drop a fortune on Sony brand lenses.I read mixed reviews about the eye autofocus. But, let me tell you it works great!!It's very light and small, which is good if you just wanna take it around with you. The quality build could be better, but like most things in life, if you take care of it you won't have problems.I was looking for a 50mm when I came across this lens and there's no real difference. Good for full body shots.

Great, great lens
So I bought one when they came out and it was a dud...would not focus at infinity...immediately returned it. I waited quite a while and ordered a new one. This one is fantastic. Sharp as a tack on my a7r3, super fast auto focus, nice colour, decent bokeh. I've used it professionally for video shoots several times since getting it. Very impressed.

Sharp, light weight!
Very compact and light weight lens that feels right at home on my Sony A7iii. It's very sharp and offers pleasing "bokeh". Autofocus is fast and quiet. Build quality is very nice but it does feel a little on the cheap side. Wishing it had more of a "pro" feel but all in all, it's a great lens. Comes with a nice zippered pouch for protection when not in use.

Buen lente PEEEERO
