Liberia, South Carolina: An African American Appalachian Community (H. Eugene and Lillian Youngs Lehman)

Multi-Generational Account of a Post-Reconstruction Era African-American Enclave
An enthralling account of the day-to-day travesties endured by generations of the South Carolina, African-American community: Liberia. Since moving to this area, I’d been intrigued by accounts of the KKK burning Liberia’s church in 1967, local lynching’s in addition to society’s institutionalized racism. This book contains innumerable moving personal experiences of these blatant and covert tragedies to very effectively describe this stain upon our society.I’m certain that this book could serve as the basis for adaptation as a feature film or mini-series; I’m not being cavalier in this belief.
