Not a boring read
I really like this book. It is a required assignment for a class, but I like it anyway. It is always good to know more ways to market your band, or who you are working with. It seems to tell you a little about everything, but it isn't really boring to read. It is usually one of the first assignments that I do for the week - to read this book.I definitely recommend it.

A pretty good read
Another book used in the Music Business courses taught at Berkelee School of Music. A decent primer and probably a solid textbook for those of you taking the class. These kinds of books I think are a necessity to the aspiring musician or music industry mind. Even those of you who have been invested in the industry can learn a lot from this one. Sometimes artists can gain a lot from the basic understanding of what all those 'behind the scenes' people are doing. While its written as more of a basics run-down of the marketing side of the industry, I feel like the content is relevant to the DIY artist in general as it demystifies some of the more convoluted aspects of how a record goes from being written to being purchased (or at least heard)I would recommend this to anyone wanting to learn more about the marketing side of music, as well as those other marketing professionals who may have something to gain from learning more about the music side.

Solid structure for music marketing planning
I'd say this book gives a structured view of how to get you music out or any release around it. The part about digital streaming and its fees was especially valuable to me. Thanks, Mike!

I found this quite helpful to put together an overall plan for a CD release. While things change so much in such a sort time in the music industry, this was fairly up to date on most things. The areas where it was not current was not from a lack of knowledge from the author, just from maker changes. A very good overall read regaurdles of the type of music that you are releasing.

A Must Have for all Indie Bands, Managers or Glorified Den Mothers like Myself!
I'm lucky to live in Austin Texas, known as the "Live Music Capital of the World." After spending 28 years in the hotel industry, I retired and decided to make a career out of doing what I gladly did for free for those same 28 years on behalf of my extreme passion for music and the local bands I love so much. This book is by far the best out of the three I purchased. Managing four bands is not a lot different than managing a hotel! Same headaches, different players - but the outcome is music to my ears! I may actually make money now after reading this book and hopefully, so will my bands!

This book gives a lot of information on Music marketing, so definitely handy when you're working in the music marketing business. It's reasonably useful when finding information for a graduation research.
