Can I give it 10m Stars?.. -The BEST book ever!!!
I am so glad I bought this book today. It's exactly what I expected and even more. There is instructions step by step how to draw some Beautiful Dragon (with explainations about every Dragon's name and it's meaning in the mythology and so.. Very Interesting..)Beside, There is other 'Creatures' that this authour is teaching you how to draw. This book is good for Beginners but it's better if you have a little bit drawing skills. If you have 0% skills it may be a little bit difficult for you.Anyway, So far this is the BEST book I bought this Year and I lo0o0o0ove it!!! I am so happy I did the right choice buying this book. It teaches you the basics (Very detailed) and you can move on from there. You can do a little changes here and there and change the design of each Creature. I recommend this book to everybody. 10 thumbs up!!!

A good buy
This book shows you all the different ways to draw dragons and other mythical creatures, as well as give a little insight into each section. It delivered on that aspect. However, there is only one drawing for each dragon, which is fine but limited in my case. I bought the book to learn to draw one dragon, which was in the book, but there was only one reference picture. So this book is great if you want to learn about all sorts of dragons and creatures in general. Although I was limited, I still studied different pages of the book to study dragon anatomy in general, which turned out great. It's an enjoyable book to read and study.

Very helpful with interesting tidbits
This was a very enjoyable read and presented the fundamentals of drawing in a clear, concise manner. The variety of mythical beasts covered is quite impressive and the author includes various tidbits of information about the history or mythology of each creature. The only "bad" thing I can say is that some inexperienced artists (under 10) may find it difficult to follow until they have a bit of practice at simpler drawings. This technique is familiar and any art student or art fan will recognize the "basic shape to finished form" concept. In this way, it is very simplistic but also covers shading, tone and depth in an easy to understand manner.

A Beginner's Dream
If you are new to fantasy drawing, and drawing in general, this is the book for you. Michael includes a plethora of mystical creatures from the genre, although the ones he leaves out are surprising (mermaids, anyone?). He instructs beginning artists in the vital skill of using three-dimensional forms to block out the body of the subject. However, if you already have knowledge of shading and basic construction, you might want to avoid this book: its focus is too general for those who want to specialize in more complex poses and it lacks anatomical references. Simply put, as an artist looking for books related specifically to dragons, I was rather disappointed; but as an art teacher, I would give my middle school students this book to extend their drawing skills and kindle a passion for fantasy art.

excellent book
I purchased this book for my grandson (age 10) who loves to draw and recently has begun to try and draw dragons. This book has more than met my expectations. At first glance I thought maybe he might be to young for the book but It breaks down each step into easy to follow directions with lots of illustrations. After receiving his book my grandson was more than excited to start drawing from the book and was so excited about the step by step directions he was confident he could learn to draw as he says "real good dragons". I think this book will help young and older budding artists.

Enjoying it
4 out 5 because while I am enjoying it, it is not necessarily easy to follow along. After diving in, I realize I would have liked a bit more of a primer, more relevant instruction. Otherwise, these are interesting and creative case studies in different mythological creatures. I think I would buy an instruction book with examples, if I had to buy again. I'd keep this one in the back of my mind for when my skills catch up with it.

I saw this book, but hoped to find it cheaper....
I was pulled to this book when I saw it. I wished to have free time to draw on paper my own ideas. After learning from this most exciting book. I gets me excited just thinking of doing some of these pictures and trying out the control of creating something alive. I have had Art classes but nothing alive. There are many dragons and monsters in this book. With step by step drawing alongside. For the price it's a steal but it was in the store for 20 + tax
