I am very happy to report that this is, by far, the easiest and best way to handle your edges. I bought the kit really for just the strop but was taken aback by the wonderment of the very fine grit belts. They have saved me hours and hours of work on my knives. I have been sharpening knives for a large number of years and could not believe that these belts would be able to replace the amount of effort that one must put into a blade for proper sharpness...I was wrong. I highly recommend this set of belts and strop to everyone!!

Price is great. Device is sturdy. YouTube is your friend for this tool. Likely one of the most modified, most covered items on the interweb. If you just want an inexpensive 1" belt sander, it works out of the box. If you're a cheap, anal-retentive, OCD craftsman, you can balance, modify, customize and transform the tool to turn out perfect work, if you have the skills.

I have been trying to source fine grit belts for my 1" x 30" belt sander as well as a leather stropping belt. This kit was exactly what I wanted at a great price. I can now shave arm hair on my whole accumulation of cheap and not-so-cheap knives and cutlery. The leather strop belt will stretch after awhile and come off the sander but soaking it in rubbing alcohol then drying it out in the sun shrinks it back to size.

I have used these belts for a while now because I wanted to give an honest assessment of its value. So far I will say they are good. I do metal work and sharpen blades and have to admit the leather belt makes a difference on finely honed blades. The entire set has proven to be worth the money. I highly recommend it.

Tried several different methods - this by far is the best. 1x30 belt sander from Harbor Freight $38. this kit (especially 800grit belt), leather stropping belt and $8 angle guide. No guess work. Was DELIGHTED with results. Bought a $200+ sharpness tester and am delighted to reports scores in the 50-80 range. Razor blades score 30-100, regular kitchen knives around 300. This solution is so flexible, I can sharpen just about anything. No guess work. 2-3 passes per side on the 800grit then 4-6 passes on the leather strop. Boom 50-80 range score. The angle guide is the secret. 90 seconds per blade for great results. Also I have fixed friends blades removing nicks in seconds.

Great kit. Although I have not used any off the sandpaper yet the strop is incredible. The strop alone is worth the price, the sandpaper is an extra bonus!!
