Brilliant for small birds to get seed without harassment from starlings
I had trouble with previous bird feeders, in that starlings would force smaller birds, sparrows, blue tits, goldfinches, robins and dunnocks, off the feeder, then have a frenzied attack on the seed, spilling it out onto the ground, for pigeons and rodents to mop up. I was replenishing the feeders daily. I tried a couple of these as the mesh had smaller holes and I was concerned that smaller birds would be put off getting to the seed. I needn't have worried. They quickly took to them. The starlings soon abandoned my garden, as they couldn't get through the mesh, allowing the smaller birds to feast unharrassed.More small birds now use the feeders, the pigeons have now reduced dramatically, and I don't notice any more rodents, because there is less seed being spilled on the ground. It is a pleasure now to see many more smaller birds queueing up on the bushes, waiting their turn to feed in safety. And I only have to replenish the feeders twice a week - bonus!

Squirrel-proof so far!
We installed this bird feeder and cage back in late May. After almost a month's use, the squirrels will still clamber around on it, poking their heads through the holes, but they can't reach the nuts and they cause no damage to the cage. They're very persistent, but this is the first bird feeder we've had that has successfully kept them away from the food. My only quibble is that only small birds can feed from it - the bigger ones (not pigeon-size!) don't seem to come around any more, because they can't fit through the holes. One or two pigeons still come around, but I suppose that's a problem you have in any garden.

Flummoxed the squirrels!
Bought this to replace a squirrel proof feeder, which wasn’t. Took a while for the garden birds to take to it but they have,There is less wastage on the ground which unfortunately the ground feeding birding miss out on, however there is nothing to encourage the rats.Well made, tough and I am happy with the quality. I would buy again.

Squirrel proof but some birds hesitant!
This is a strong and pretty well constructed cage. It is large and quite heavy so needs a hefty branch or support.I do get quite alot of birds prior to this cage feeding from my older feeders but they do seem reluctant to use this one especially blue tits but other birds like nuthatch/bull finch/gold finch/larger tits more receptive. We will have to wait and see but overall pleased with it. Watch out for weight and dimensions.

Not squirrel proof!
I have had this seed feeder for 2 years as well as the nut feeder. Unfortunately, I have had 2 small squirrels that have fitted in the actual seed feeder and chewed away the plastic from the feeding hole thus allowing very expensive sunflower hearts to be eaten within a few hours. I have had to throw this away and left with the nut feeder where you can see the evidence of a squirrel sitting inside. It lasted longer than previous feeders but very frustrating to see the damage they have caused

Squirrel proof.
Sturdy and robust bird feeder but the top lid on my product was not a snug fit.

Seems like a quality and effective feeder
Wanted a feeder for the smaller birds as the starlings keep eating the lot. (I now have feeder for all types of birds and all squirrel proof)When it arrives it seems quite heavy but really constructed well and feels like quality.Easy to fill with a screw top, this could be a weakness if it rusts but we will see over time.Within 24 hours the small birds were using it including a blackcap and yes it keeps the starlings a bay which was the objective so I am happy so far.The actually feeder its self sits quite a few inches away for the wired frame which seems to make the smaller birds more comfortable about using it with more space and it mean the larger cannot reach in.So seems like a good design and worth the money
