BELLSuper 3R & Super 2R Cycling Chinbar

this thing is built very well, takes a minute to figure out how to properly buckle everything in properly but once in it actually feels super solid : ) I had to take the cheek foam pads out and it fits great now. tbh I thought I would only use it for the glarly downhill descents at my trails but it really isnt that obtrusive and you never know what can happen around cars on the way to the trail. . I actually like how cool it makes you look like you're ready for some s*** lol. definitely will be a bell customer for life. Ive had my super 2 since 2015 and I've always wanted to get this and I am very much pleased to say the least. please remember to take out the 2 little plastic tabs on the sides of your helmet before clamping the side latches down, otherwise you can break it if you try to force it on there. super comfy, fits like a glove 5 stars for sure

Update: I was hit by a car and look at what happened to my eyeglass lens. Without the chin bar, which I had on the helmet for only a couple weeks - that horrific graze over pavement with my face down and only the chinbar keeping my eye socket from full contact with the ground... My helmet, by the way, was smashed by the impact with the pavement but my skull and face were uninjured. I bought another Bell Super3R. You can't argue with that kind of success.=========================ORIGINAL REVIEW FOLLOWS:At first I was a little hesitant about adding this onto my Bell Super 3 helmet (yes these Super 2 chinbars work for the Super 3). I planned on removing it when conditions permitted and only affixing it when I felt I needed the added protection. That idea lasted for one day. First of all, this thing is not the easiest thing to take off and put on. Its not difficult either. Its just not convenient. It turned out not to be a bother to just leave the thing on - and benefit from the added protection full time. Its not a full face guard like a motorcycle helmet... its called a 'chin bar' for a reason: Its angled way down so it wraps around your chin. Your face is still fully visible, which is handy, in particular when you want a drink of water (I still have to hold the bar down a little to get the bottle up to my mouth).The cheek (jaw) pads pushed into me more than I liked. I found they have a velcro closure in the back and you can easily remove one of the two foam pieces inside to reduce thickness by about 80%. Its perfectly comfortable for me now.

Bought for an old Bell Super2R mountain bike helmet. Fits as advertised. All you have to do is remove two small plastic pieces on either side of the helmet so the metal can clip into place.

Does what it is supposed to. A little pricey for what it is, but if you like the versatility and ride a wide variety of trails this is a great concept. Only complaint is the cheek pads... They are too thick so therefore pretty uncomfortable. They are removable but when you remove them you lose some of the support that keeps the helmet more firmly in place. My recommendation for Bell would be to cut the foam pad in half to have 2 pieces in each cheek pad to allow for a little more customizable cheek pad thickness. Other than that, great addition to an excellent helmet. If you are reading this review you most likely already have a Bell Super 2, so you don't need me to explain how good that helmet is.

We bought this chin bar to go with our Bell super 2 helmet. The fit is very snugg and isn't going anywhere! It can be removed, but it is on really tight and would take some real muscle to loosen the latches to remove it from the helmet. We bought this helmet and chin bar combo for our 2 and 4 year olds. There are almost no options for regular full face bicycle helmets in America. Our 6 year old split open his chin and got stitches and a big scar when he was 2 years old on his Strider, since then we have purchased full face helmets from out of the country to get a lightweight, fully vented bicycle helmet with a face guard. This is the best American option we have found by far. Buy this and save yourself a trip to the ER or urgent care!

Great add on to your bell helmet. Just keep in mind if your not riding some serious down hill you really don’t need it. Now if your going to ride down hill then this is a great add on to your helmet. Very durable and nice not to have to have 2 different helmets.

This fits the Bell Super 3R perfectly. The engagement snap on takes about 1-2 minutes to attach and 1-2 minutes to detach.

Easy enough to install and remove from the Bell Super 2 helmet. Saved my face this weekend, and I rode my first enduro race with it. Fantastic! Super easy to clip to a Camelbak and is a lot less weight pulling at my back than a full face helmet.

I bought the super 3 a long time ago and recently showed a interest in purchasing a full face. I didn’t want to wear a full face on trails as it’s not comfortable but wanted a light weight one. I found the super 3r and thought that it was a full face version of the 3. Then I found this! I was disappointed at the price at first but foound that to buy the 3r it would set my back £200. The 3 cost me £100 and this £70. Much better. Delivery did take a while but we’ll worth the wait! :)

Great bit of kit. I’m not an all out downhiller but it gives me the option for more protection without being suffocated as if I was wearing a full face downhill helmet.Remember to remove the two plastic lugs on the helmet to allow the clasp to fit.

Fits to the helmet really easy. Makes the helmet feel like a real full face helmet.Not too heavy and retains good vision.
