Stortz 2 1/2" Triangle Paint Scraper

This works well scraping the old lead based paint from a 100 year old farmhouse. Cracks and flat sections - it is doing the job.

Though I wish I could have found another Stortz scraper that wasn't in stock in time for my scraping needs (I believe it was the one with a half-moon on one side, and is slightly bigger, but otherwise similar to this one), this triangle one really isn't bad at all - in fact, it's still the best scraper I've ever used in my life. I'm not a painter, just a DIY person, but you need to try one of these to see what kind of a difference it will make in speeding things up when scraping.I just wish I could have afforded a "Paint Eater". That's okay. Between this scraper, some Peel Stop by Zinsser, and a paint sprayer, this is a bigger job than I've ever undertaken before, and I'm hopeful it'll actually all last a decade when it's all said and done.

I used this scraper to remove old paint from a wooden window that I wanted to repaint. After removing the tool from the box, the first thing I noticed is that the blade is extremely sharp and you have to be careful when working with it. The plus side of this is that the tool is extremely effective removing stubborn paint from wooden surfaces. The scraper has no give to it, meaning it doesn’t bend, and you can really go at it when scraping. This is a professional’s tool that will last a long time because the blade can even be re-sharpened with a file as it wears over time. Overall I see this tool lasting a long time and performing to a high standard. Good value.
