Great book! Great subject!
I heard Mona Lisa Schultz speak many years ago. I finally got the book I wanted. I love how she explains intuition so anyone may understand.

Very insightful book!
I learned a lot about listening to my body thanks to this book, my mind had had the usual disconnect that most of us have. Looking back at times when I'd become ill or had "aches and pains" all of a sudden, I realized though that sometimes I'd known that my body was trying to get my attention. I remembered a couple of times when I got new jobs that were stressing me out and I began to get heartburn and headaches everyday so I quit even though I didn't have another one yet (but "ran" to a temp agency). I now I listen much more carefully and if a situation I'm not happy with begins to produce physical symptoms I know it's time to find the way out before things get much worse!

Intuition Revealed
Dr. Mona Lisa Schulz is a physician, practicing psychiatrist and holds a PH.D in neuroanatomy and behavioral science'the study of the brain and intelligence. Beyond this, she is also a respected medical intuitive, providing psychic health readings to clients by phone, using only the vibration of the client's name as her source of information. In her book Awakening intuition: Using your Body-Mind network insight and healing (Three Rivers Press) Dr. Schulz presents her contention that all significant life experiences are encoded in our cells and these long-forgotten memories continue to influence and form the way we see and respond to the world, though our conscious minds may be unaware of them. Memories and forgotten emotions speak to us in a language unique to each individual. One common way they speak is through illness and disease.Having suffered from debilitating injury and disease, herself, she proposes that our health and well being will be significantly increased by accepting the idea that intuition not only exists, but is available to all of us. If we learn our body's secret (or symbolic) language, we will have access to our unconscious and may create within it images and feelings that empower and inspire us and avoid being blindly controlled by ideas and emotions that might not serve us. If we learn to listen to the body when it's speaking softly, subtly, it does not have to break down into full-blown disease in order to get our attention. [...]

Good Book - But Lacking in One Important Area
Dr. Mona Lisa is an amazing person. M.D., Ph.D., Intuitive and much more. She is truly one of a kind and I appreciate her very much. This book does a very good job of making the connection between our intuitive centers and related health issues. It also makes a good case that we all are intuitive - in one way or another. The thing I kept waiting for, however, was for her to suggest the kinds of things that we could do after we had used our intuition to realize we needed to make a change in our lives - to help solve our problem. Granted, that could have considerably expanded the scope of this book. However, leaving that gap completely untouched and unanswered left me wanting. It was obvious from the book that if you didn't address the need that your intuition was alerting you to it could escalate into a serious health problem. And yet, nothing was suggested to help you resolve or move forward to fix the problem. If this had been addressed in some way, I think it would have helped to make the book that much more helpful.

Must Have
Whether you are studying reiki, trying to heal yourself, mind/body therapy, or just curious, Mona Lisa's book is a good purchase. She gives overviews of her case studies backed up by cited medical research to explain how the mind/body intuition system works to tell us what we need to change in our lives. Unlike other authors on similar topics, she doesn't stress that her modality is the only way to look at things, nor does she stress anything as definite, but applicable to most people. She interjects humor and uses herself as an example much of the time, making the book seem more fun and less preachy than books like Chakras and Their Archetypes or Eastern Body/Western Mind. This comes from the same school of thought as Carolyne Myss's approach, but more in depth and from the point of a neuropsychiatrist than focused on affirmations and the Law of Attraction.

A guide back to being your own healer
A truly remarkable book to help guide you back to being your own intuitive healer. Well written, thorough, lots of great examples and clear instructions on how to begin the journey back to trusting yourself to know what you need to heal.

This is a medical intuitive memoir-not a how-to book!
I loved it because I read spiritual philosophy. I'm a psychology student and an intuitive. Schulz delivers an interesting personal account of internship in medical school, as well as her own path as a medical intuitive. The reading material might be a little cumbersome if you are not interested in mind-body-spirit topics. Read it if you have a health concern, or are curious if there is something "behind" that sore elbow or elevated blood pressure, beyond the standard clinical tests, which I believe are imperative. Read it if you enjoy women's memoirs, or stories of everyday people. Schulz stresses that having a purpose in life is directly related to our health. I am one of those who agrees. It is not the status that counts, it is the intuitive life journey we take, that matters most.

Great read
It was refreshing to know that not all psychiatrists are so bog standard in their beliefs - if all psychiatrists could be as open and understanding, not just to their patients, but with themselves - perhaps the helping of mental health conditions could move forward. Ms Schulz not only thinks into the problem, but feels into it too.I would say, from my years of working as a therapist, my most successful work happened when I used my intuition. I am naturally sensitive and intuitive (as are we all if we let ourselves be by unblocking old and dogmatic beliefs), however sometimes, with some other therapist, it would not have felt safe to talk about that sort of 6th sense of what may be happening. I hope things move forward and the more psychic (for want of a better word) slant on things takes a step forward.
