The quality of the basing materials is pretty good; I'm certainly sold on buying basing materials from The Army Painter line in the future. And despite initially looking like you don't get much material, a little goes quite a long way. I fully expect this amount to be sufficient to base 75 miniatures like the box claims.A few little things bother me though, which is why I'm only giving the product 4 stars.For one, they clearly are using this product to introduce people to the wide variety of different materials they offer. There is a basic brown dirt, green grass, lush moss, fine snow, larger rocks, and tufts of grass or bush. While this is nice, it also reduces the amount of actual utility you're likely to get out of this single product because the amounts of each individual material are less.For instance, this product may convince you to base a whole barbarian horde army with mostly snow that has a bit of brown dirt showing patches, but if that's the case you'll have to buy more snow. Or you may decide you want to paint some terrain for your battlefield and use the larger rocks, but then you'd have to buy some more rocks. Or perhaps you just want to base a simple army of knights on some brown dirt and grass, then you'd have to buy more brown dirt and grass. In short, this box is only enough to do perhaps 20 models in any one style of base. That may be more than enough for your purposes though.Another issue I have is the packaging. All of the materials are just in little ziplock bags, sliding around loose in a single large plastic clamshell within the paper box. The heavy bottle of glue is sliding around in there with them. This resulted in holes forming in several of my little baggies; snow grains were everywhere, including outside the box stuck under the shrink-wrap. What a mess, and a waste.The glue bottle also appears to only be about half full when I got it. Odd.Overall though, if you're just starting out with modeling I think this is a fine purchase. I wouldn't plan for it to last you very long though. It's a great value regardless, especially if you can find it closer to its MSRP of $18... as of this writing, most sellers seem to be charging $22-$25.

I had seen another review that showed the mess in which their package was received. Hoping that was an isolated incident, I went ahead an ordered. As you can see, mine came the same way. The snow package had a hole torn into it and it was all over inside the package.As for the rest of the contents, once cleaned off, are definitely small sample sizes and not worth the overall cost.

Good price for what you get. However, packing was terrible. The snow packet had a hole in it which resulted in it going everywhere inside the box.

Used this product with Dungeons and Dragons figurines from the tile set board games(Castle Ravenloft)and I am very happy with how they turned out.
