Finland 8 (Lonely Planet)

This is a very simple guide in comparison with earlier Lonely Planet Guides. Lots of information about where to eat, less on where to stay and not that much on walking tours etc which usually are included for the bigger cities in a country. There was not a section on the language - not even on how to say "hallo" and "goodbye" in Finnish. I think the guide would be helpful for my visit but not as helpful as I am used to expect from Lonely Planet books.

So far, its an easy read, organized where I can find everything I need quickly. Explains transportation around Finland great !! Wish they had more budget restaurants in Helsinki.

It has great overall info about Finland and details about most towns for when you visit them. This is the 8th edition published May 2015. I am very happy with my purchase.

Good information but the print is so small that anyone over 45 would need a magnifying glass. I'd like more pictures.

This is a product review only.I usually use Rough Guides or Bradt Guides, only Lonely Planet when necessary. I was pleasantly surprised by the Moscow and Saint Petersburg editions, which I used recently. However, this is a very poor guide. The chapter on Helsinki is lacking in many important places and details. The chapters on the south and west coasts are much too short, and only include the more touristy places. I'm planning a trip there for next summer, and this book will do me little good. In addition, the maps are poorly drawn, and difficult to use.I hate to give negative reviews, knowing that people DID work on this. But this isn't anywhere near a good guide book.

The only drawback was that there are a very limited number of hotels listed. Most are in the top end price bracket. More budget accommodation would be helpful in this expensive country.

Perfect for planning my trip to Helsinki end of the year. I would normally purchase a top10 guide but have found this one much better 👍🏻 Full of useful tips as well as interesting facts - I’m so excited for my trip now

Arrived in time for our winter wilderness adventure. Proved to be very useful for tips and advice in the area we visited.

Good maps, clear descriptions and lots of interesting background information. This book really enhanced our recent trip to Finland.
