Skullmonkeys
A fun, bizarre side-scroller. I REALLY wish it had a save feature & I REALLY wish the original game, The Neverhood, was available for a system that I have, but as simple a game as this is, it never seems to get old. Fight your way through armies of Skull-headed chimpanzees with an ever expanding arsenal of weapons & technology to knock you out of the game. Claims to have at least 90 levels, but I haven't got far enough to really say for sure.

So much charm! So much fun!
While maybe not heralded as a classic, this is great side scrolling 2D platformer that doesn't get the recognition it deserves. The clay animated graphics are so interesting to look at especially the cutscenes. The soundtrack is superb, yet bizarre at times. I love the bonus stages where there is actually a guy singing/telling you that it is indeed a bonus stage and not to worry and take your time.Gameplay is a lot like an original Super Mario Brothers game. Jump on enemy heads to defeat them. There is also a run button you hold down to achieve bigger jumps just like a Mario game. Collect 100 orange pellet things and you'll be awarded an extra life. There are secrets stashed all over the place like a Mario game. There are also weapon pickups throughout the levels. You have a gun, but ammo is so scarce and usually hidden, it is best to only use the gun in dire situations. There are homing bats that lock on to the nearest enemy. There are hamster shields! The hamsters are real life digitized sprites that circle around you which will absorb two enemy attacks. It's hilarious. You can also pick up a power up that let's you clone yourself. It's actually quite innovative. You can control your clone and try to clear a tough section of the level without the risk of losing an actual life. I like using it against the bosses as they take several hits to defeat. My only criticism is the password system. You cannot save your progress and must rely on keeping track of your password to continue playing. That gaming trope is about as old as gaming itself. It's a pretty long game with a TON of levels. Lacking a save function is a pretty big flaw for this game, in my opinion. Otherwise, I would give the game a full five stars. I cannot think of any other negatives. This game is so full of charm and comedy. I love it! I would recommend this game to any fan of 2D side scrolling adventures. However, be ready to shell out around 100 bucks or more for a complete copy. Must have the special front case cover that gives the front cover its holographic look. You can't replace it with any old jewel case cover. This game is just so full of charm and comedy. I love it!

Just a Generic Platformer? Not Quite!
I love The Neverhood, and when I heard there was a sequel, I got right online and ordered myself a copy. What I received was probably one of the strangest platformers I've ever played. Skullmonkeys retains the clay graphical style of The Neverhood, as well as a lot of the same sort of humor. Also featured is a fantastic soundtrack done by Terry S. Taylor, the same musician behind The Neverhood's soundtrack. The Skullmonkeys, Neverhood, and Boombots soundtracks are all available on a two-CD set called "Imaginarium: Songs from the Neverhood", if you're crazy and want to play these tunes in your car.Skullmonkeys features 25 distinct levels of varying sizes, as well as several minigames and full-motion claymation cutscenes between levels. In a way, the game is a little bit too long, and it definitely feels slightly generic. If you're familiar with the 2D platformer genre, there's not much to see here aside from the game's artistic qualities. I feel that Skullmonkeys holds its own much better as a work of art than it does a unique video game. However, it's still an ambitiously bold attempt to combine art and what may be one of the oldest and best-known video game genres out there.Control-wise, the game feels a little slippery at times. It's not unplayable by any means, but things can get hairy in the final level when you're trying to leap off of some of the disappearing platforms. Unnecessary deaths aren't uncommon in this game, so if you don't think you can deal with that sort of frustration, I might stay away from this one.As far as the funny factor goes, I felt that Skullmonkeys relied far too much on bathroom humor. That's not to say that there aren't any funny parts at all, as some of the bosses range from disturbing to downright hilarious and weird. Other than that, you have your usual Tennapel slapstick, which is always welcome. Also, do try to get all of the Swirly Q items, as you'll be greeted by a very nice bonus room at the end of the level...and an extra cutscene at the end of the game, should you collect every single one of them in all of the levels.Overall, if you're a fan of Doug Tennapel's work, this is a must-have. If you never get tired of platformers and you like claymation, I'd recommend it. If, however, you're expecting something that would hold up to most modern standards, I might skip Skullmonkeys.

Amazing play!
This game was in near perfect condition-no skips. I think that this is the way to shop from now on, no more auctions. The seller described the product accurately, and I am very pleased. Thank you.

Sweeeeettttt
I bought this game on here, back in September 2011, now it's August 31, 2013 and it's in my PlayStation 3 right now. This game is worth being about $30 because of the sentimental value it holds, besides the fact of it being a pretty awesome game. If you're into weird funny retro video games than I suggest you to buy this game.

Skull Monkeys--Christmas gift for my son
This is a quirky, fun, older game for the PlayStation and a bit difficult to find. I purchased this used--the pricing and service was awesome and arrived in very good condition as promised. My son loves it and could not be happier--which makes me very happy too! Thank you!
