RUFFWEAR, Powder Hound Insulated, Water Resistant Cold Weather Jacket for Dogs

I carefully selected this XS Ruffwear coat for my 15lb Schnoodle who has 11" neck, 19" chest and 15" back. While my dog has only used this coat for a month, so far I am liking everything about it and have recommended it to everyone who asks about the coat. My dog is a small dog; however, this is the first coat that is designed to cover her long back, which provides added warmth. So many small dog coats are cute but provide no warmth or durability. This coat has a brilliant side zipper and is easy to slip over the front paws. Ruffwear obviously put thought into the zipper because the durable zipper is protected by an inch of a double-layered nylon fabric, thus doggies with long hair won't get pinched by getting their hair snagged in the zipper. This coat has quilted insulation covering the dog's back, with an added soft-on-the-inside stretch fabric that completely covers the armpits and belly - an added layer of protection for my dog from the northeast winter weather. While this coat does not have an opening on the back of the neck for a harness (the only negative -- my dog wears her harness over the jacket), it does have reflective trim on the tush and a fabric loop at the neck to attach a carabiner clip for my dog's nighttime safety blinker. The XS size is loose enough on my dog, allowing her to comfortably wear a fleece sweater underneath if the temperature drops below 30 degrees. The coat feels like it's well constructed so I am hopeful it holds up well when I wash and air dry it.

The coat looks good and seems to fit well. It is well made. Unfortunately, in 40 degree weather and below, Moose comes in from a walk shivering. He is a Carin Terrier mix with hair rather than fur which may be part of the reason he gets cold. Also, the coat is a little loose on the rear section and that space between the coat and his back may allow cold air to get in. We may try a thin sweater underneath the coat.I realize that this coat is not custom made for each dog so the space is unavoidable. Maybe I'll take it to my tailor and have it taken in a little in the back to keep out the cold.

I have a 55 lb American Staffordshire Terrier, otherwise known as a pitbull. Anyone familiar with this breed knows that they have very little body fat and cannot stay warm in the winter because they have a very flat thin coat. After doing much reading in many different places, I decided on the ruffwear powder Hound dog jacket, as this is waterproof on the back and was reported to hold up well to abuse and the dog trying to rub against things to remove the jacket. I very recently bought a second ruffwear powder Hound jacket for this dog so I could always have one clean, because he rolls around and gets pretty stinky , he is solely an outdoor dog. Immediately after putting the first jacket on him and sipping it, he started noticing that he felt warmer right away, he looked me right in the face and started licking me to say thank you and he had never done that before, in the four years that he has lived with me, even after I would give him super special treats. Even after it has been raining and he has decided to go stand out in the rain because he's not very bright, I have gone out to visit him and pet him and I would stick a hand up underneath the back of his jacket, and it was always dry and warm no matter how wet and/or cold it has been. Yes, $90 for a dog jacket is pretty steep, but this is the best I have found and it does what it is supposed to do and holds up to the serious abuse my dog puts it through. So I just take a deep breath and press Buy It Now. *** Please, before you decide to buy one of this brand's products, please go to their website and take careful note of their sizing charts. Please measure your dog and find out what size would be best for them, they have done a very good job with their sizing.***

Love the jacket..uses quality material so it doesn't tear like a shirt i had recently bought, for my dog..i used the sizing chart and feel the jacket is ever so slightly loose on her...it's not as tight on her as I would like - and i wonder if a size down might even be better/tighter for her, but it's too late too return and find out ...overall, it's a great jacket - and if nothing else - even if a bit too loose, it does provide her some warmth and keeps the rain and snow off her back..i like itUpdate one year later: The coat fell apart all in one day - unexpected and kinda sucks - i figured would at least last the winter and beyond into next week because it had been so durable for so long....ah well, i am not mad..i am ordering another one for sure...i was also considering another line of jacket for her but that jacket had a hood, which was a dealbreaker for me. So I am getting this one again in a different color because I know it's a good jacket!

The media could not be loaded.  I purchased this winter coat for our trip to Canada and it was amazing. my dog had never experienced such cold weather, we live in the caribbean. this coat kept him warm and dry ALL THE TIME. even when we would go out while raining or snowing.the material it’s amazingly soft inside and puffed on the top part. the design it’s also quite amazing, no pee on the belly side which can be a problem with other coats. my dog didn’t experience any type of discomfort and he could perform normal doggy activities :D

This coat has great stretch and fits perfectly on my big chested pit bull. She loves wearing it to romp around in the snow. I love chest, belly, and some leg coverage it provides since her belly has the least amount of hair. Keeps her nice and dry as she plays outside in the cold months.

Very excited to see the product which looks amazing and couldn’t wait to get the dog out with it on. First walk the dog went through some brush and when he returned there was 4 nicks in the material with the white insulation coming out, that trend continued on the second time of wearing and now it’s not usable. Very dissatisfied with it especially considering the price, we have now bought a coat from Aldi for £30 and it’s been brilliant in comparison.

Very pleased with the coat, keeps our Cocker warm with the added bonus of keeping most of him clean. Easy to put on and the fit is one of best we’ve come across.

fits really well and keeps my dog warm in the cold. it also protects the chest area so that is less mud to wash off too. washes really well. this is the second one I have bought as I have 2 dogs and I like them to wear the same.

good quality check your sizing, it would have been perfect if zip had been on the top and not on the side so the dog could have been able to step into it better but good coat

I bought this when it was on offer for our chihuahua puppy in the hope it will fit him when he's fully grown.It seems good quality and will be warm when he gets to wear it.
