You thought this was used to insulte pipes. This can be used in many ways. I cut into 1 11/2 inch lengths to cushion the storage of microscope lenses. It has performed well. Closed cell foam is easy to work with.

If you need a small amount of insulation, this is the way to go.

Good easy to apply insulation trims to fit real well. Everyone probably wish they had this before the vortex hit. It's a great product for price and fit exactly to my pvc piping.

We have huge 1 1/2 inch pipes in our unfinished basement for our baseboard heaters. These dont cover the pipes entirely but pretty close. Helps to keep the heat running into the house and not into the basement.

We recently finished our basement and had to take the old ones off to paint/"blackout" the ceiling so I had to buy new ones and will not live without these in a 2 story house. Truly keeps water consistently warm and doesn't take forever to warm up the shower

I noted that some reviewers found this tubing to be 'oversize'. Actually, that is why I ordered it. I wanted it to cover the metal shaft of my ergonomic Garant snow shovels to provide physical and thermal protection to my hands. I also installed it over the wooden handle of my ice chopper to protect against the shock to the hands and arms when using this tool. The tubing fit perfectly in both applications. I can say, though, that the shaft and handle are both 1.25" in diameter. The description says that it is FOR 1" copper and 3/4" iron so that is why it is the diameter it is. It seems well made; time will tell if it holds up to the physical handling in store for it. But of course it was not made for this so I won't complain. A very minor quibble is the length which is 35.5"
