Practice Math Tests for New York City SHSAT Specialized High School Admissions Test

Picked up both both books up for my niece to help her improve her math score on the test. Similar to other reviewers, she said that the questions seemed harder than on the released practice tests and that she thinks there were some mistakes in the answer key. She also said that some of the explanations were not very detailed so she had some difficulty understanding her mistakes on a few problems. Overall she said she liked the book and felt that it would help her.I received this product at a discount for an honest review. this book contains exercises more difficulties than the actual exam according to my daughter ( she took the 2015 SHSAT). the best part of this book is all their question for each tests are similar to the previous one. That means your kids can practice the similar question in all tests. I printed out empty answer sheet and ask her to fill it in all the answer for the 1st time and she finished all tests and then the 2nd time, she directly circle the answer on the book. So she practiced the book twice. She didn't get 100% even the 2nd time. We paid thousands of dollars for her to go to those Sat Prep school in Summer and than in Sept again but I found this book we both did it at home more productive than those prep shcool course and help her the most.

My daughter used this book to practice for the math section of the SHSAT, and math has always been her strong point. If anything, this book has only made her even stronger. I love the great amount of practice she has been getting, and her scores have improved. My only concerns are that:1. Some questions are a bit harder than most on the SHSAT, and there is little practice with the arithmetic on the SHSAT.2. There are a few mistakes in the answer key.Overall, though, this book is a great book to use in addition to others, and is great practice. I highly recommend!!

Got this for my brother and while he thought it was helpful, he only used it for the questions. Probably better off spending a little extra time and money to get an instructional book to learn concepts first.

Good: Practice on similar problems. Degree of difficulties and variety of selections.Need: More detailed answer key. Also, the answer to Test 4 (P.35) Problem 59 is wrong. 300/7= 42r6 (instead of 22r6). Should count the 6 remainers from Tuesday(as Day 1 in the set). Answer should be Sunday (A). Please revise if I am right.

Bought this book for my 6-grader. So far he did not go to any math school, but was learning it at home. This book comes out to be a good test, that helps to evaluate middle school students' math level, figure out weak points, check if their current math school/tutor is helpful or extra work is required.I would recommend this book to parents/middle-to-high school students, concerned with the students' math skills.

Great book my son's math skills have improved through this book. I would recommend this book to any level of students preparing for the SHSAT!

Explanations were not detailed enough. There were multiple errors on the book as well. 4/5
