What a great well made knife
To start I not an expert on knifes. It's my first folding knife besides my other full tang knifes. I did a bunch of research mostly on the varies types of steal and the plusses and minuses. CPM-S30V is a great choice and balance when factoring in the price. This knife is a bit in the low price comparing to other knifes using the same steal for the blade therefore I was a bit worries as to the quality. I was very pleasantly surprised when it arrived. The design and look is great. The feel is good in my medium size hands and feels well balanced and solid. The handle is well shaped and great premium material. The action is smooth and there are several ways to open he blade including flicking the knife open which is a cool way to do it. The fit and finish on my unit is just about perfect with things aligned well. It's also a great looking knife overall and I like the shape of the blade but that's all personal preference. One thing I wish I got a standard blade as the black coating I'm sure will start looking bad with use but it's a knife after all and should be getting used and showing signs of use should be expecteted. I have not done much field work with it other then light use around the house therefore can't comment on how well he blade edge and knife will holdout over time. Speaking of blade is quite sharp out of the box but definitely could use some fine sharpening if one wanted to shave with it. For normal use it's just fine. Speaking of the price it's unbelievable deal. Not sure how they do it but get one while the supply lasts at that price. I'm thinking about getting a second one as a backup or for the bug out bag.

Good knife, may be a new favorite
I really like this knife. It feels good, opens smoothly, locks firmly and comes razor sharp. It looks pretty sleek too. The ball bearing pivot is nice and smooth and this is a nice knife for the price, especially considering that it has an s30v blade. It's fairly easy to open with one hand, but doesn't seem to have a torsion bar or anything like that for assisted opening, so it doesn't "flick" open.I have some issues with the product description. The pocket clip is oriented for tip up carry, not tip down. It's bigger than the description says, too. Edge is about 3 1/4" and closed length is about 4 5/8" so it's not a LOT bigger than described.I'll include pics with kershaw leek for scale.

American Quality
•Very well centered•lockup is great•no play opened or closed•sharper than razor from factory•grind looks extremely easy to sharp•handle feels grippy and ergonomically balanced•long jimping areaThis is only the second retail folder I’ve ever purchased, the other being a lockback EKA with a beautiful wooden handle and a Scandi grind that was stolen from me. The rest of mine have been purchased used or dead stock (eBay/forums).Reviewing the black and micarta version. I rarely leave reviews on products but I was so impressed with this affordable US made pocket knife I had to. I was reluctant to buy this but at the price it was a no brainer. I may get the steel handle version as well for a backup, or to put custom scales on incase Bear & Sons sells them.I have yet to carry the knife for an extended period or use but it feels like a winner. The only thing I’d suggest is a metal butt plate/pommel for hammering but this wouldn’t really be a proper review without at least one suggestion or critique. Great job so far Bear OPS /& Sons!

Great blade
Love the blade. The scales are too heavy though. Heavy enough that I had to cinch up my belt. And the clip is too large, gets in the way of your pinky when you hit the flip tab.

lack of support for product
The blade is great, good edge retention. However the pocket clip broke after a week of use. I looked on Bear & Son's website to order a replacement part, they don't sell just the clips on their site. The only customer service they have is either US Mail or an online contact form, no email address, phone number or chat function. I used the online form this to see if I could buy a replacement clip, once I submitted I received an email asking me to confirm that I indeed wanted to submit a question, which I did. After this I never heard back from them. With what they charge for the knife you'd think they could at least get back to you.

It's a phony
Just like Eric I was tricked into thinking I was getting a quality, U.S. made knife in s30v at a really good price. Gifted this to my stepdad. He seemed to like it a lot. Asked him if he was enjoying the great steel that holds a nice edge for a really long time. He said it was good for awhile but it didn't seem to last him much longer than anything else he had. Was surprised to not hear better news on that. 4 months goes by and I'm considering my next knife so I ordered one for myself, I did a little more research and came across the same review Eric saw. I cancelled that order. As far as I understand, it's foreign materials including fake s30v (8cr13mov) that is supposedly put together in Alabama. There are plenty of G10 8cr Chinese knives in the 30 dollar price range available, heck add 10 dollars and you have D2.Now, looking at affordable U.S. made knives in premium steels I would recommend Gerber. They have the Edict in 154cm. A couple other models in good steel as well. Kershaw has the Link in 20cv and the Blur in s30v. I used to look at Buck knives a lot in S30v but they are now all over the 100 dollar range.
