Quality product at a good price point.
I am a long-time user of Westcott brand softboxes as I used to shoot 4x5 commercial work using Speedotron Blackline units, so I know quality gear. I have recently bought a couple of 80 watt LED continuous lights to do some video work, and decided to give these Neewer softboxes a try. For precious little money compared to Westcott products, I am VERY impressed. The material seems to be of good quality, the Bowens design mounting adapters are heavy duty, and everything seems to fit properly enough. The inner diffuser is attached by rather "fiddly" tiny loops and locking hooks, but once attached, it just gets folded up in the softbox itself, so no problem at all. The storage bag is of surprisingly high quality, and overall construction of the softbox is on a par with any of the "bigger name" units out there.I will be buying more of the Neewer products as the need arises.

Pretty descent materials, it's the small things that let it down.
Like most Neewer products the quality is descent for the price. The material is thick, the stitching seems adequate and the mounting ring is metal with a lockable rotation ring which is nice. The one area that gave me some trouble was inserting the fiberglass rods that give the box it's structure. The first issue is the loops that you have to feed the rod through are incredibly tiny which makes that process difficult. The pockets where the rods insert are made of heavy nylon webbing which seems durable, but is very stiff which again makes the process harder than it needs to be. And lastly the rods them selves are good enough, they're fiberglass with crimped on metal ends for durability and presumably also to keep the fiberglass from fraying over time with use but two of my ends fell off, they weren't crimped on very well. But again for the price the unit as a whole is pretty descent, I can reattach the metal tips I'm sure with some silicone adhesive. If I had one suggestion for Neewer it would be to take a note from the tenting world and fix those loops that the rods feed through, make them longer with a larger opening and it would make assembly a whole lot easier.

They are good!
I needed to get a pair of softboxes as the ones I was using threw slightly different color temperatures! I figured I'd buy a set from the same manufacturer to ensure consistency. I'm pretty sure any pair of softboxes out there would've been fine with that "challenge," I just settled on the Neewer ones for ease of use and affordability. I've been very happy with them so far!

Neewer Portable Rectangular Softbox
This is the soft box I purchase after the other total failure from a different supplier. The had instructions, went together easily and just the way it should have. Nice and square and flat. I liked it so well and the price wasvery fair I purchased a second on. I keep them both assembled and on stand in my kitchen.

Quality product for a great price
For the price you get a well-designed Soft Box that fit right onto my bowens mount light. Its not too heavy so it doesnt make your light set up too top heavy or front heavy.Comes in a well-designed bag which it all folds into easily.I used it for video purposes, interviews with the Aputure LS C300D, its a great combo and made for a big soft light which was very flattering on interview subjects.

Works Well
Five minutes to assemble. Everything fits together correctly. No missing parts. Seems durable and carefully thought out. I'm matching it up with an interfit 150ws studio strobe for portraits and office lighting. I like the internal baffle and the soft light of this softbox as compared to shooting through an umbrella. This is my forth Neewer softbox and like the other three (different sizes/shapes), I believe Neewer softboxes are economy priced and not cheaply made. I don't break them down and build them up for every use because they fit in the car when assembled--and this saves me set-up time when I go to a job/event. I would recommend this to my friends without hesitation.

Cheap garbage
If you're looking for something cheap here you go. I have a few different products from Neewer that are pretty damn good and thought I'd try out their softboxes. Well that was a mistake. To begin with the materials are very cheap. As soon as I unpacked it I saw that the corner stitching on the diffusion cover was unraveling and came undone before I even used it. Because of the design (goes around on outside of softbox to cover) it's pretty much useless now without modifying it or trying to restitch it. But like I said the material is super cheap and will likely tear again. It's not even worth the hassle to return it. If you're looking at this option because it's cheap just keep in mind you get what you pay for. I will be saving my money for a better quality product.

Faulty - but fixed it. Still a bargain.
I have had a lot of softboxes over the years. How you go about choosing these depends on whether you intend to use them in studio - where you will probably never disassemble them - or want a quick pop-up one for location use.Frankly the latest generation pop-up models are great idea but generally more expensive and a bit heavier. This unit is a bit fiddly to assemble - but we're talking 4-5 minutes of cussing and you're done. One 'up' it's a really great little box, even and bright, lightweight and pretty well made. As others have said, you can buy three of these for the price of a big-brand version and you won't tell the difference apart for the extra money in your pocket.Mone came with the Bowens 3-lug adaptor unhelpfully assembled back to front; this took me a while to figure out. Rather than go through the process of returning it, I managed to slide this off and reassemble it correctly. Just be aware that if your unit does not fit your light and you are scratching your head, that there is someone putting these together wrong at the factory! [Neewer, please note!]

Good quality and affordable
There is no real need to buy a really expensive softbox. Most of the time as photographers we get caught up in buying expensive gear rather than products that are affordable and as good. For the price of these softboxes, I could buy 3 of these for the cost of one main expensive manufacturer. They are of decent quality and easy to assemble. Bought three of these and really happy with them.

Hard to store!
Firstly, I will say the soft box works well for the price....However, as it isn't collapsable you either need to store them in their Softbox position or dismantle them again and again. I'm already debating whether to replace them with something double or triple the price purely to be able to fold them down and store them much easier.

Cheap but does the job
Bit of a struggle to fit the arms in to the softbox material but it all went together ok with no damage to the softbox material or arms.

A bit fiddly to set up -
Apart from the soft box struggle to set up ( they are all alike in this respect ) the unit is well put together, light is clean with a good spread and nice soft fall off, & the centre is not too hot.
