Ok Book
The description for this book vastly overplays the action in this book. It's a good straightforward story about a female veterinarian. Melody Langley is a vet who works at the local veterinary clinic. About ten months ago, just before she left town for some additional training, she breaks up with her boyfriend Steve by pouring a pitcher of beer over his head in the local bar. He was pretty much a waste of time - a minimal effort kind of guy. You don't find out what specifically caused her to break up with him for a while and I was worried it would be something stupid, and it was, but the kind of stupid thing he'd do back then. When the story starts Melody returns to town and goes back to work at the clinic. The owner of the clinic (and her mentor) announces that he is going on vacation over the summer and that Melody is in charge of the large animal duties. Tom, the other vet who works there is furious and makes life as difficult as possible for Melody while the older vet is gone. I guess large animal duty is more prestigious than small animal duty. Some of the farmers are not happy having a woman work on their animals and they also make life difficult for Melody.Steve took his breakup with Melody to heart and has spent the last ten months trying to be a better man. He talks Melody into giving him three months to prove he's changed.I liked this book. I had no idea who the other characters were and there wasn't much explanation to go by, but it wasn't too big a problem once I figured out who Steve's brothers were. I gave up on the cousins and various other relatives. It would have probably helped if I had read the other books in the series.Melody was a good character. She stood up for herself when it was appropriate and put her head down and got the job done when that was appropriate. There are some battles that are just not worth fighting. The only thing that was weird is that with so much of Steve's family littering the ground, there was no mention of Melody's. This was all Melody's story. Other than his mom going to take care of his aunt, nothing happens to Steve. He went through his changes before the story starts and basically spends the novel being a good guy, which works.

Too explicit!
Way too much sex...I like a much less explicit love story. Unless you are a real lover of raw sex, I would not recommend it!

Steamy and Funny!!!
I do like the Six Pack books! I do like Arend's writing style. It did need some grammar editing. That takes a 3rd or 4th reader to do it. Prior editors will skip right past.I loved the story. Nice to see one where they both have some growing up to do away from each other and then come together for the final growing up.I normally skip sex scenes, but some of these were so well written that I read more (not all) of them ... including sometimes laughing at an interchange within the scene. I did laugh quite often in this book. Oh, you've got to read what happens when the women play truth or dare!I fought the idea that the very first time Mathis goes away it is for 6 whole weeks. Too long to have dumped her in the middle of that much dumb male community.

Honest, Mature, Sexy
I had read this series about two years ago, but only up to book 6, then got side tracked by other things...such is life. Recently, I got notification that book 7 was available, so I got it and finished it in two days (again, life getting in the way).It was just wonderful. I didn't think I would completely enjoy reading about a man who had to make such major changes in his life in order to win back the "one that got away," but it was great.Watching Steve contemplate his actions from before he lost Melody, (10 months earlier) to now was educational and sophisticated. It showed the lengths a lover would/should go through to make up for wrongs done.Melody, too, analyzed her part in their aforementioned travesty of a relationship and made conscious efforts to rectify her behavior. They communicated, one of the most efficient ways to keep a healthy relationship growing.I thoroughly enjoyed the book even with the few grammatical/electronic gaffes. I would have liked to see a resolution to Melody's and Tom's differences, I think he needed to be taken down a peg, but it's not a major distraction.I see she has books 8 and 9 out also. On my TBR list.

Rocky Mountain Romance
Steve and Melody are a couple, but obviously not a happy couple. As Steve is playing his guitar and singing at the local tavern, Melody walks up and pours a pitcher of beer over his head, then leaves town to Get school. Now she is back in town and things get interesting. Steve has a lot to learn about being a couple and when to open his mouth vs. When to keep quiet. Good story. Loving this series!

Hot cowboy gets a second chance with the woman that went to vet school and is now back, but is this the "real" him?
Rocky Mountain Romance is a quick read and some decent if not particularly deep relationships. It's above average, but not *THAT* above average.Steve Coleman never realized what he had been missing... Until she's gone. But now Melody's back in town, it's time to show her the new and improved Steve... Melody went off to veterinary school. Ten months later, she's back, just as her boss went on a vacation, leaving her in charge. But the town wasn't quite ready for a female large animal vet, and the cold shoulder she got, as well as power struggle with the other vet (small animals) in the clinic had her fuming. Only Steve's wicked distractions (lots of hot sex) held her frustrations at bay. But is this now the "real" Steve?Less angst, more sex. This series had always been about hot cowboys. The psyche and relationships are not particularly deep, but then it didn't have to be.

The 6 Pack Ranch just gets better and better!!!!
I've been very poorly for a long time and l'm just getting back to some of my favourite Authors and their amazing gifts for writing such diverse and awesome books and series! Ms Arend NEVER (so far) disappoints. I also am appalled at just how behind I am in virtually every single series that I'm hooked on and how many new Authors and their work just waiting to be devoured in hours of recovery.Anyway, back to the book at hand. I swear that this series gets better with every new book. Recommend most heartily, Melody gets Steve in a right state before they both realise why their relationship is better the second time around!

Would not bother with series again
I downloaded this as it was free and a good way to try an author I had never read before.Very disappointed. Can't believe it is the same book as all the other reviewers were raving about. It was OK. It wasn't dreadful but it certainly wasn't the best of the genre either. This is book 7 in a series and on the one hand it was nice to read this and understand the whole plot without feeling that I was missing some vital information. On the other hand everybody came across as a cardboard cut-out. Surely after 6 previous books at least some of them should have had some depth of character?Sorry - the people were too light weight. The plot was tired and obvious. A pleasant afternoon read I guess. But sexy cowboys and a bit of excitement - sadly no.

Interesting take on a story
Steve and Melody had a history. Now she was back in town Steve wanted a new chance with her. For him to do that he needed to up his game . Could he and would Melody accept he had changed. Thoroughly enjoyable

Love this series
Great series in which each book depicts individual stories but also picks up on other characters from previous books. Melody and Steve had a previous relationship which ended badly. On her return home to her new job as a vet they reconnect and she gives him a three months trial to see if they can work things out. Good romance as well as melody's struggle with old fashioned and sexist farmers. Well worth the read.

Not for me
Meant to be standalone within series but .... I found so many characters introduced that it was confusing as their back stories were alluded to but not explained. I felt I was drowning in a sea of unknown people. I didn't like this story which I thought was shallow. Won't read more of series or author.
