Relief for sinus and asthma sufferers!
Pros: So easy my 6 year old used it Helps with dry tickle cough like nothing else I've tried Relieves dryness without leaving too much moisture behind Uses saline which is better for membranes than water alone (like a humidifier would be) Has a reverse mode for cleaning the tiny particles out of the meshCons: Uncertain about the durability of delicate parts on the water tank I wish there was a better indication when the tank was inserted in the reverse "cleaning" position vs the normal position. My 6 year old was able to use the Avya to help with bloody nose due to dryness. It's that easy and I felt comfortable letting him use it with just a little supervision. The heat settings are noticeable steps warmer but never too hot. I let him use it on the 3/4 lights setting. He approved and it did really seem to help him.The most amazing part of this is how much it helps with that dry tickle kind of cough. I frequently get a dry irresistible cough, you know that nagging part that lingers as you're getting over a cold? Until now I haven't found any practical solutions that last. This little device gets moisture deep into the back of my sinuses, throat and lungs. It's pleasantly steamy without feeling like a sauna. Many people including myself have trouble with very humid air and feel like they can't breathe. There is none of that heavy feeling at all with this. This device is designed to use saline instead of water. If you've ever used a humidifier it's just water maybe with some scent packs. The saline used in the Avya is gentle on mucous membranes. No burning, stinging or discomfort. Safe to use anytime as much as you need.I use saline sinus rinses regularly, but they also leave me with that drippy sniffly feeling. The irrigation water gets trapped in pockets in the sinuses especially if you've had surgery to open up the cavities in the bone. The steam from the Avya doesn't leave me feeling wet or drippy other than a little condensation at my upper lip where it's directed. In the past I had used a hand held battery powered nebulizer for medicines. I remember it having a similar mesh design. After a little while using it, I'd have to get another because the mesh would clog and there was no good way to clean it. Avya has designed in a cleaning mode by reversing the water tank in the device. I've yet to need to clean it but I'm hopeful that their foresight in designing that in will help this unit last. I only wish they had made some indicator to show when the tank was in reverse mode. When you look at the water tank, there are some plastic molded areas inclosing the mesh and the heating element. They look very delicate. I'll update as I see how it holds up. Luckily Avya provides a nice shaped foam padded carry case that looks like it will do a great job protecting the unit.My background: I have severe asthma and chronic sinus issues with 3 sinus surgeries for polyps. I use daily inhaled and nasal steroids and saline irrigation. I am on multiple biologics to keep my lungs and sinuses functioning.I am a registered nurse by profession. Love this! Helps SO much! Quality product that does its job
This little device is amazing! I have an autoimmune disorder that means I get sick fairly often, plus I work in schools, so I am constantly exposed to germs. My colds and sinus infections seem to last FOREVER because of my suppressed immune system. I have been searching for a way to get through the near constant congestion in my nose, throat, and chest, and I believe I have finally found it! I followed Avya steam inhaler on its Kickstarter journey, but I did not back the project because I had tried steam before, and it had minimal results. When I moved forward without results and this ad came up for the steam inhaler on Amazon, I decided to give it a try, and I'm glad I did. The first time I used it with just water, and it cleared up my nose and throat enough for me to fall asleep easily for the first time in weeks. The second time, I used it with the Avya saline solution, and this stuff is gold. It cleared not only my nose and throat, but also my chest congestion. I'm so glad I found a product that works that isn't full of detrimental side effects or that I need to worry about using only once a day.At first I was a little confused about how to clean it after, but the process is actually very easy! I followed the steps in the manual and was able to clean it quickly and easily. I love the case for travel and how small it is! Overall, I am so glad I found this product! It seems sturdy like it will last for awhile. I highly recommend this to those who suffer from congestion!

Wet drippy nose
I will start this review by stating that I have the worst nose of all time. NOTHING clears this thing other than a medicated spray, which is addictive and harmful. That said, I'll start my review with unboxing, and if it worked. And it did! Unboxing it was a breeze, and everything worked perfectly. It did make a very fine mist as advertised. However, as I "inhaled" as best as I could, some of the steam went into my nose...where it quickly condensed. So rather than do anything to clear my nasal passages, I was instead left with a wet, drippy nose. In the end, my nose was...kind of a little more clear. I'm not sure if that was just the wetness, or if the device was starting to work. However, because the thing does what's promised, and because my case is to tough, I'm still giving it four stars. If you have less severe congestion than I do (and you almost certainly do) or another use case such as dry cough or something, I'm positive it will work.

Great alternative
I have been suffering from sinus pressure year round and was looking for something other than saline rinses to help with relief. I was a bit hesitant to purchase this unit due to the high price point but after using this just a few times I must say that I am very impressed!Pros:Quick and easy to use this, I was able to have it up and working to try right from the opening. Helped with sinus pressure and provided easier relief than normal saline rises that I have done. Breathing in also seemed to help overall dryness of the throat and nose. Seems easy to clean so far and excited to see how this helps come winter too! The heat function is great to be able to get it just right without risk of burning oneself.Cons:I would love to see it come with more starter Saline from the start just to get you going for more than a few times.Overall, this is a good product and a welcome change from the traditional saline rise I have done. The feeling after and during, is way more pleasant and in turn, I have found I am more likely to do it. Like I can take this on the go and use it whenever it needed
