"Music as Medicine" I purchased this DVD as test. My mother is living in a nursing home with many other Alzheimers patients and they would spend a good bit of their day sitting in a community family room with a television playing various programs. The patients showed little if any recognition of the programming being broadcast but I noticed that there was also a DVD player attached to the television. I took the DVD in and had the staff put it on for the patients and surprisingly, most of them reacted almost immediately. You could see fingers and toes tapping throughout the room. This great music stirred memories in them that we all had thought were lost forever.

Frank knew he wasGifted, and shared that gift with fans throughout the world. It's Frank
It's Frank, what's not to like ? Well, it does only get so good on quality, which is to be expected given the age of the materials. But, as I said, if you are reading this, then just buy it already.

Good for Beatles fans
This film basically falls into 3 parts, spliced together with no introductions or frills in between. The first part is a TV special from 1964 where the Beatles do a Shakespearean sketch, then there are several appearances by supporting artists such as PJ Proby and the vernon girls, and a pre-nose job Cilla Black! its good as a snapshot of a 60's variety but for me personally was mainly padding before the Beatles appear and run through most of their hits to that date. The tape then cuts to their appareance in Washington on their U.S. tour which is available elsewhere but which is fascinating if you haven't seen it before, as they manage to reproduce their sounds very well despite poor equipment (dodgy mikes and tiny amplifiers)while the organisation of the concert is a shambles with the Beatles and staff having to manhandle their equipment around the stage as they play to crowds in front and behind them.Lastly the final part is footage from their concert at the Budokan in Tokyo from 1966. The video and the sound is not brilliant quality but for me this was interesting as I hadn't seen this before and they play a number of tracks that I hadn't seen them play live before in concert (Nowhere man, Paperback Writer)If you like the Beatles and you already have most of the main DVD's then this will add nicely to your collection.

Nostalgia at its best.
I have fond memories of this tv show. Ok it’s dated the comedy is naff. But worth the price to see the Beatles Cilla Long John and PJ in their pomp. The other two shows are poor quality. But worth the outlay for the main feature.

Hidden Beatle Treasure
There are lots of cheapo Beatles DVDs out there, some better than others. This is one of the best as it contains a fairly good 16mm copy of the little seen 50+ minute Beatle special Around The Beatles produced by Jack Good for Rediffusion in 1964. Wonderful stuff, it also contains extracts from the Washington and Tokyo gigs which are available elsewhere in much better condition. If you are a fan then this is a must.
