Visual History of the King James Bible, A: The Dramatic Story of the World's Best-Known Translation Hardcover – February 1, 2011

Took a little longer than I expected to arrive but it was well packaged and even bubble wrapped. Great book ! Would recommend it .

It appears to me that most people want a book which is going to declare a clear winner in the debate of which translation is the most reliable in the English language today. This book is not written to deeply engage the reader in the textual issues of the translation process. It is however, a very engaging story of the emergence and continuance of the legacy of the King James Bible. It is written by a man that has an amazing amount of hands on experience with the handling of the King James Bible. It appears to me also that he also has a great love for the Bible and his affection comes through on every page. An Edifying read!

I surely enjoyed reqding this great book on the King James Bible. Donald Brake is a very good writer and excellent historian and superb sclholar on the Biible. He brings out many truths about this historic period and gives mcih information on each translator, but it is a little heavylj when he writes agout the critiism of Scripture.

I had previously read "A Visual History of the English Bible" and really liked it. When I saw the listing for this one, I had to add it to my collection. However, I was a bit disappointed with the "visual" part of this book. Unlike "English Bible" book, this book had more art illustrations of people and less photos of the different formats of the Bible or photos of the people involved in the process of their making. Historically, it seems o.k., yet, for a title of "Visual History" I expected more in illustrations.

Many books have been written about the King James Version during its 400th anniversary around 2011. I have collected every one I can find, but none match this one for detail, for beautiful illustrations, for really understanding how this book, which influenced the English language more than any other book in history, was created.

This is a great research book on the history of the King James Bible. With all the visual aids , it's like walking through a museum .very educational. I am enjoying learning , plus an inside look into a great collection on old KJB would would not see anywhere else.

Brake writes with authority-pastor, teacher, seminary dean, avid, veteran collector of rare Bibles and manuscripts. He makes the story of the King James Bible, the best-selling book of all time, come alive. As good as his previous "Visual History of the English" Bible, and as sumptuously illustrated.

My grandfather loved this book. He's an avid Bible reader and he was fascinated by the history.
