Stanley National Hardware S757-033 1055 Chain Bolt in Zinc, 4"

Great product - and exactly as described! I used it on an interior bathroom door and it works perfectly. The chain operates smoothly and it is well-designed and well-built.

Ordered two of these to act as quick releases on the second door of double doors on a garden shed. They work pretty much as hoped, but a few modifications were needed. 1) The cross-section of the bolt is square, and the bolt slides in a round sleeve. The sleeve is too big in diameter, meaning the bolt wobbles inside the sleeve. So when the door is closed, it can rattle significantly as the bolt wobbles in the loose sleeve. I fixed this by wedging a shim inside the sleeve that narrows the gap but doesn't impede the sliding of the bolt. 2) The plate (bottom right plate in the picture) into which the bolt inserts when the door is closed doesn't align with the bolt if installed as designed. If it is, the bolt is centered in a much bigger opening and the door can really wobble. This was fixed by repeatedly repositioning the plate until the bolt just barely slid into the opening, but it's now clearly not the way it was designed to be installed. Now the door is tight when closed and doesn't wobble. Overall, I'd buy them again, but knowing I need to modify them significantly when installing.

Works well used on and attic door, a bit hard for a horizontal lock really made for vertical installation but did the job well. My only complaint was I wanted gold and it came in silver.

The bolt is square and the housing is round. The bolt stays in the correct orientation by a rectangular hole at the bottom of the housing where the chain attaches to a small rectangular stud at the bottom of the bolt. This would be OK if the round housing was a bit smaller to be a good fit on the square bolt but the housing is too big. So there's too much slop in the assembly. I had to make two 5/16" cuts at the top of the housing and bend the housing toward the door a bit to adjust to a good fit. So now my chain bolt works OK. So 2 stars for my having to modify the chain bolt that I received to get it to work to my expectations. With my modification, the chain bolt is working fine.Also, I replaced the chain since the one supplied is made out of wire loops and the cut ends of the wires protrude enough to poke the hand if the chain itself is pulled. If only the ring at the bottom of the chain is used to pull it, then it's fine but I didn't want to have to be careful on what I pulled.

Item works as described. Does a great job of keeping the gate closed. Will be buying a few more at a later date.

This was a replacement for my mom's pool house doors....perfect!

These will do what I need, but for how long is a fair question. They really aren't very well made.

Worked well, knew it would. Availability was the issue. Lowes and Home Depot suggested I go to a hardware store - good luck finding one after one of them move into to town.

Not quite as robust as I expected but fulfilled the intended use.
