I have no choice but to accept the hype.
This saw has gained legendary status on the internets, and my iconoclastic disposition compelled me to skepticism on the subject of the Laplander. Well, I finally got ahold of one, and chopped some things up with it, and I can only report that it's an outstanding tool at a modest price. The first thing that struck me when I had it in hand was that it's super light. You really can stick it in a back pocket and drag it anywhere. The second thing that caught my attention was the craftsmanship of the locking mechanism. It stays closed until you press the button, and locks up tightly when it's fully open, and it's better than most pocket knives in that respect. The blade, of course, seemed sharp, rugged, and flexible, but you can't really say much about a saw blade until you put it to use.I took it out today and sawed up some dead hardwood ranging from 1" to 4" in diameter. It zipped through that stuff with no effort whatsoever. Based on that experience, I wouldn't hesitate to tackle anything that's thinner than the length of the blade. I can compare the Bahco to my experiences with: the Chainmate CM-24SSP 24-Inch Survival Pocket Chain Saw With Pouch, Gerber 31-001054 Gator Combo Axe, and the Truper 30518 2-1/4-Pound Boy's Axe, Hickory Handle, 28-Inch. I've carried all of those into the woods at one point or another, and can say that I'd have been better off with the Laplander in every case. I might stick with the larger axe if I really planned on splitting a lot of firewood, but I've generally found that unnecessary on my trips.I'd like to compare this saw with a Silky Folding Landscaping Hand Saw POCKETBOY 170 Fine Teeth 342-17 and a Shark 10-2337 Folding CutsAll Saw for good measure. Maybe I'll be able to try those down the road. For now I can just say I'm pretty happy with this Laplander, in spite of the hype.

good saw. Great for back packing.
wasn’t expecting such a good saw at this price point I just needed one for my pack. Didn’t want to pay arm and leg for one. This hand saw is compact, locks great, and it’s very sharp. My pack is heavy so feeling how light it is was a very appreciated. You don’t need a lot of pressure to cut, let the saw do its job . It’s not heavy duty, but it’s a great product for the price and better than you would expect.

Nice
This is far and away better than the folding saw I have been using for years prior to this. It is so SHARP. Thus far the thickest thing I have used it on was about 5 inches in diameter and the Laplander performed admirably. Folds up nice and compact so it is easy to have with you when needed.

Light and Hopefully Sturdy
Only 4 stars because I have not used it yet. Maybe it goes up or maybe down.It did come with that leather rope thing if you want that. I tossed it before thinking about taking some picture for the review. Sorry. It does come with that if you care.I have not used this yet so take this review as you will.I want this to be good. In part because it of course looks good and I like my tools looking good. However it feels super light and the teeth done seem to flare out any wider than the blade itself. It might end up working just fine. The teeth do appear to be very sharp for the moment. It is locked while closed as well as open.I got this to use while camping, I like making my shelters bringing just a tarp and I should be going out this month so I should be able to update on actual use soon.

This is a great little saw.
I have had this saw out with me now several times. It makes light work out of cutting wood. The blade is super sharp and penetrates beautifully and quickly. I have been impressed with how quickly it can cut through a 4 inch piece of hardwood. I'm happy with the purchase. It is not expensive and worth the price for me. It's a great tool to have in your kit.

Excellent. Does what it is meant to do and does it well. Sharp and robust.
Excellent. Fits in the pocket and does everything well. Sharp and robust. Not quite as quick cutting as a Silky but it feels more durable.

Good saw, great price
For the price, you are getting a quality, compact and capable little saw that punches above its weight. This thing is very popular for good reason.
