Reliable, sturdy, comfortable, and friggin' sharp
This knife has made it through one camping season as an all-around utility knife and I still love it.The weight is great ("reliability"...but not too heavy), it's sturdy (no jiggle) and the blade has remained surprisingly sharp, even with lots of use. The assist-opening mechanism works like a charm every time (love the trigger on the back of the handle) and, with a bit of S&W humor, I'm amused at how the unlock feature on the front is the same as a gun safety ('red' means hot). I thought this was an unnecessary feature until I left it off and managed to trigger the blade in my pocket... weird sensation, but no, uh, "damage" done. The straight blade will, when I need to, be really easy to sharpen as opposed to say, a partially-serated blade. I thought the leaf-print thing was odd on the handle at first, but as a texture it's actually really grippy and feels ergonomically comfortable in my hand (I have large hands). The only drawback is the blacking on the blade got pretty scratched up, and scratched off in some places but eh, that's what happens with a knife if you use it for everything. If this knife had a tagline, it'd be "pointy enough to remove a splinter from your fingertip, tough enough to cut meat from bone...(not recommended to be done at the same time)."

10/10 Knife
Truly an amazing knife. I've had three and that's only because I use them everyday and I beat the heck out of them. Things I would share from experience is that if you really want this knife to last. First, buy some Loctite thread locker, and unscrew the screws in the handle and put a little of the Loctite in the well then put the screw in. This is just so that over time the screws don't come loose. I would do the same for the screws on the clip. It is good practice with this knife to keep it oiled so that it performs well and the assisted mechanism works. As for the blade, it is sharp as a razor out of the box. I couldn't tell if it was just what I was doing, but I resharpen my knife a few times a week. (I personally like my knives razor sharp) Overall this is a great knife for the price and it performs well. One last thing, if you do end up using this knife, it's very similar to an "Uh-Oh" gun, it makes a lot of noise (:

Excellent buy, very durable and stays sharp.
I've owned this exact knife before, and lost it. This is a great, durable, sharp, every day use knife that lasted me for years previously.

Very well made knife, highly recommended daily carry for many years now.
This is my second one of these that I have picked up and I'll buy another soon enough. Technically I retired my last one a little early, and still have it as a backup. I had got that one custom engraved and was using it so much that the engraving was starting to come off! These have been my daily carry/workhorse knives for about 6 years now, so I'm averaging buying one every three years. As you can see in the pictures, the coating will scratch up and wear off eventually from nearly every surface. On the other hand, the belt clips are just as well-tensioned now as when I first got them. I did use some needle nose pliers to give the bottom of the clip a little nudge outward to make it slightly easier to clip it to my pants, but that is personal preference. The assisted opening works extremely well, and has virtually no maintenance needed. About once every year or year and a half I'll give it a shot of WD40 near the action and call it good, but that's about all that's been needed in the last 6 years. Maybe I'm preferential, but my goodness does it make a satisfying "click" sound when it opens. If I get this knife out and click it open, people notice. The last thing to talk about is the blade itself. The blade is perhaps not the sharpest out of the box, but does tend to hold an edge pretty well. Because the body of the knife is a bit wide it can be a little bit of a pain to put on a whetstone, but I just kind of work with it. About once every year I'll get the stone and oil out for it. Which I don't consider bad when I take into account that I use this for everything from opening packages to scraping tile, to trimming wood, to cutting electric cable and everything in between. I will throw it on a steel in between times, but depending on how you like your blade you'll want to find your own sharpening interval.

Great knife
Good looking knife, nice blade. It's made well, strong and durable, and great colors to choose from. Smooth opening and closing of knife. Great carrying knife for camping, hiking, or everyday use. I highly recommend this knife for men and women.

Great EDC for a good price
This is my second S&W Black ops knife. This knife is very sharp right out of the box. It is very easy to sharpen and stays sharp for a lot of use. I use it to cut cardboard, speed tape, mylar, etc. The assisted opening is very quick and smooth and I've never had an issue with it opening. The lock mechanism is great and I recommend you use it as I forgot to lock it and it opened in my pocket. I carry it everywhere and unfortunately had my first one with me when trying to enter a concert venue and had to throw it away.

Awesome Easy open affordable knife
These are great knives; I’ve carried one for years and they’ve always worked. Lots of options for serrated/straight edge/combo, drop point or tanto etc. Stay sharp a decent whole, incredibly affordable, open awesome with one hand with the MAGIC assisted opening.

Good for the price, but not great
Looks menacing, easy open, nice blade shape, holds an edge and sharpens easily. When it woks, the opening mechanism and action is as fast as everyone states. Like several other reports here, however, the finger actuator on mine broke after six months of easy use. It's under warranty, but not worth the effort for a $34 knife. I used it as an EDC about half the time, swapping between my Kershaw Knockout, depending on my mood. I preferred the thinned body of the Kershaw; this one is a bit thick for my taste. I will be replacing it with a Kershaw Launch 1.
