Good cue for the money
I bought this cue as a cheap cue to break with to protect the tip on my main cue. It already comes with a reasonably firm tip. It has a conical tapper so there is less flexing during breaking which is what I wanted.As far as a general playing cue it works great. I've played several games with it. Beats a house cue any day of the week. Solid construction and a tight fighting joint. If you are looking for a cheap intro cue to play with or use as a back up this isn't a bad little cue.

It's warped at the joint...
After checking carefully, it's warped at the brass joint. I don't know how to make it straight, and one of the main things you buy your own cue is to have a straight, well-made cue... Just don't know what to do.

Good for the money
mine came in the 'pin' was crooked; you could tell; I should have took a picture but it got stolen; thats the benefit of a cheap cue; when you play so good they think you got a $1000 stick and steal it. Your stick WILL GET LOST/BROKEN/STOLEN eventually; its rare to have a stick more then 3 years if its expensive and shiney; I've had about 7 sticks stolen in 15 years some have even pop up like years later!So if your new to Pool ... the stick will always roll flat even if the 'joint pin' is off B/C there is a 4" taper on the shaft and the 'butt' end is thicker then the 'pin offset'. Just like a car would appear all 4 tires are 'even' when in fact they are staggered. Really reduces returns and warranty requests on 'warped' sticks. but that still doesn't matter *** if it rolls flat play with it.A great beginner stick; I suggest nothing more, I don't know of a better design for cheaper then a wood on wood cue; Basic/Natures design/effective/same engineering and industry standard pieces put on all cues; (most made in China anyway) it will last you, and tough enough to beat it up a little. Accuracy is that of a nice one piece Bar Cue or better; but not that of a laminated shaft;but seriously unless your game is as strait as your stick is; you don't need any better; suggest this stick from beginner to level 6; for semi-pro to aspiring pro we already know its all the frills or nothing; either spend $300 for a shaft and $200 for fitted end piece or spend nothing. All in-betweeners I have experimented with are good but not exceptional to warrant the price; and require practicing/adjusting to that specific Cue;Again unless you go with the whole package i-CORE "Factory fitted" steel joint McDermott its not worth it...Look at the patterns in all Industry sticks all they do is market wood type; joint type; and Tip/Ferrel; let me tell you; I have NEVER seen an Engineers review proving one 'low deflection' better then another combination; and most are no better then emulating a one-piece most market their shafts like that... Truth is its really your compensation that matters. any other low deflection combination is just another way to shoot pool, granted low deflection for most is an advantage but true understanding of throw is realized more effectively with low deflection when you understand it and you cant buy a better stick to under stand it better...actually you might need a cheaper stick :) .I have flipped OB+ shafts onto this and it will play better but not $300 better IMO; and with G-Core its another inbetweener that will just market your money away and stress you thoughts on development in the wrong way... you might as well just skip any inbetweener McDermott and buy the i-CORE strait away "fitted from the factory". DON'T piece it together later. if your ready to spend; then spend for the good stuff that you will keep for years and don't look back otherwise with medium grade you will always question 'what if' and that will slow your progress;

Great cue for the money
I did some research on some cues with no wrap and when I saw this one I decided to pull the trigger and I'm glad I did, I made it into such a nice cue. To be fair this review is not for the product received as is because I changed some things before using it.The day I got it, took it to have the tip swapped with a medium (the factory one was strange, like a shaggy rug), cut the ferrule in half and have it pro tapered... for 45 bucks! This cue is $100 but shoots like a $700 cue now.Can't go wrong with McDermott, even for a low-end cue it has a nice feel and a great "crack". Getting one for my buddy so he can't blame his cue for the beatdowns he gets from me 🎱

Great pool cue
Works great for me. I've beaten plenty of players with more expensive sticks.

Save your money
Shaft was warped out of the package which is whatever. I bought this to match my black jacoby black carbon fiber shaft since its the only all black no wrap mcdermott I could find and the jacoby shaft fits but the shaft is a smaller diameter than the butt significantly. That part is not the sellers fault but the warped shaft? Come on now
