Encyclopedia Rudimentia: The Ultimate Drum Rudiment Collection

I expected alot more hybrid rudiments in this book and got very little. This is an encyclopedia of regiments from history. Some hybrid are there for marching drumming but they are a far cry from the hybrids for drum set players. Never saw Tony Williams Blushda. Big miss right there.

Great info: covers 40 PAS list, and more. If you go into studying rudmental literature, you will go beyond the listed rudiments. This book also covers hybrid rudiments, modified rudiments, and some other featured stickings.

If you like historical information about drum rudiments, you will greatly enjoy Ryan's book. It is also a great reference book for all the major rudiments. I haven't seen before the detail he gives to the Hybrid rudiments- that alone was worth the purchase for me.

I’ve played for 32 years and needed some inspiration to keep practicing so I ordered this book on a whim and woah, I had no idea how much I did not know about rudiments. I grew up with the normal 26 and thought I was pretty good at them. This book goes so far beyond what I learned as a kid that it’s almost overwhelming. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to play every rudiment in here, much less master them all. I guess I got my wish though, now I have plenty of things to practice! People talk about Swiss rudiments or hybrids sometimes but this book has rudiments from countries I’d never even imagined had their own styles of drumming. I just have to say if you think you know everything about rudiments, like I did, you’re wrong.

I knew almost none of this before. Its amazing to me that this much information actually exists about rudimental drumming, but here it is all in one place. It would be hard to believe that any other book is more expansive or complete. If anything, it's too compact. It could be a bit less dense, but I guess that's not really a bad thing so I'm still giving 5 stars.

As a pro myself and also have written a drumbook, I can truly advice this great drumbook for a lot of serious teachers and students. There is a lot of info, details. I love it!!!Cheers, Jeroen Simons, Independent, Epica.

This is an interesting and useful book on an important subject in drumming. There are historical notes and explanations to guide you through the pages (and pages) of rudiments. Although the standard 26 are still the basis of all drumming the variations or hybrids from other countries make for some challenging exercises most of which can be applied to the kit.

Really handy book

This is what it says in the tin! Incredibly well thought out without the unnecessary pages of texts and explanations so often in tuition material nowadays. The layout is superb. I highly recommend!
