Complete and informational
Superb! This is the ype of book I expect/hope to get when looking for DIY green home building alternatives. Occasionally, I thought it would be good to see another photo to go along with Roy's in-depth descriptions, but these were rare instances, and usually minor. The author is very thorough in his descriptions and photograps, painstakingly illustrates many of the essential calculations you will need to do, and even discusses some local ordinance issues you might want to consider. These include many that you would probably never have to worry about but are included "just in case". It has good photos, is well written, and complete. It would be hard to improve this book.

I enjoyed reading it immensely
Well written book with very clear instructions on how the author built this cordwood guesthouse. I enjoyed reading it immensely, and found it to be very helpful. Specifically the book helped me realize that I DON'T want to build this exact guesthouse but that alone was worth the price and reading time. I will read more of Rob Roy's books.

Thoroughly Enjoyed
I thoroughly enjoyed the book. It provides a step-by-step approaching to building a small guest cottage, and provides plenty of photos. What I liked is that it shows the process involved in an actual building that was put up, rather than just writing about it in theory.

Interesting
I have not read this book cover to cover but have browsed it pretty well. It seems to be very thorough, giving building estimates, lumber needed, etc.I found the book much cheaper here, thru Amazon.

Misnamed
The book was a bit of a disappointment as I thought being named "Stoneview" that it would be about building stone mason houses, but it ended up being about building a cordwood home with a bucket for a toilet! The information was redundant with the book I bought at the same time called "Cordwood Building", which was a better book in that it gave you information for building to several types of designs and not just one model of cabin.

you can't say it's not thorough
They cover everything in this book, but I wished it had not been so daggone wordy! Maybe a how-to spiral with less words and more illustrations. Seemed daunting; the project and the writing.

Cordwood Building Project
A comprehensive project book. Takes you through the process of preparation and assembly. Some further information referenced to other publications by the same author which could require the purchase of other books. The illustrations of the assembly process require updating to reflect current health and safety requirements for personal protection equipment for example ear defenders, safety glasses, hard hats, gloves and chainsaw protection.

... to 2 of Rob Roy's workshops and I really like his approach to alternative construction
I've been to 2 of Rob Roy's workshops and I really like his approach to alternative construction. This book doesn't go in much details compared to his other books but gives you a great overview of most of his techniques (expect of earth-sheltering which is covered in depth in another book).
