Eagle Games Defenders of The Realm: Dragon Expansion

Let me first state that I love the Dragon Expansion to Defenders of the Realm. It takes a challenging game and makes it ruthless. If you have gotten pretty good at beating the base game (as my friends and family have), you need to give the Dragon Expansion a go. To date we have only beaten it twice (out of more than 15 plays). This is the part that many of my friends and family don't like. Your strategy has to be a bit different than playing the base game. Again, if you like playing Defenders of the Realm and you love a challenge, pick up this expansion.If only they would make more expansions for this game...(I'm looking at you Eagle Games, get on this.)

I have only started to use it, but Eagle Games seems to have in mind making Defenders a game where you can play many times, but by changing the internal variables provided by the expansion (and there are a number of them, both to make the game harder and easier) you can always play the game differently. My gaming group has unanimously declared this the best board game of all time. Great fun!

This is likely one of if not the best co-op board games in existance, and that is not hyperbole. I have had friends who love co-op doing most anything to get in a game and even people who normally dis-like co-op say they really like it. The lowest response I have obtained after playing a game with people was they "liked it a lot."This will appeal to co-op people(if you liked pandemic, you'll love this), people who like fantasy gaming and those who crave a challenge. Even veteran gamers generally are winning this thing not much more than 50% of the time and more casual people are hitting about 10-20% and there are ways to make the game harder as part of even the basic set. Because the game is so much about YOUR actions and heroic activities, losing is not a downer, most people want to play again. LOL the first time we won everyone went out to get drinks and desert because it was so exciting.The variety of characters you can play and how insanely different they each feel coupled with the random nature of the "bad guys" and the expansion adding more (even on-line free content) that the gamee does not get old. I've had 30+ plays and still love it.Highly suggest picking it up.

I am impressed with the Miniatures which is well crafted. The characters sheet card made of hard cardboard is of good quality tooThe game is easy learn and fun to play. I have a great time playing with my 2 boys.

This is an excellent game and the Dragon expansion makes it all the more challening. The designer of this game was brilliant and really thought about interesting game play above all else. I highly recommend this game to anyone interested in cooperative game play. As I said, it is currently my favorite game!
