True, these are expensive but they are well worth the price! A little tricky to use for the first time but if you read and follow the directions and diagrams you can't go wrong. I am a fan of "overkill" so I bought Four! But the result was a massively-heavy Hidden bookcase door that remains perfectly level and swings easily with the push of just one finger. I couldn't have done it without them.

Ehhh. Agree that the quality is extremely good but there is no template for installation, no printed instructions, no customer service contact, just hardware-- hinges and screws. I don't know if this is a result of the seller? Sugastune's site says a template is included so perhaps it is just the seller. For this price I would expect at least a cutout template for laying out the hinge on the door and jamb. The online instructions are ok, although no mention of maximum door thickness for opening/closing doors. The minimum door thickness is also given here on amazon, but not the maximum. I realized after the fact that for a front opening door there is only 5mm allowed thickness in the front, I checked out the measured drawing on Sugastune's site but did not quite understand this until these were in my hands. These are hinges for custom applications and I now realize that the hinge cannot accommodate my door without serious modifications to my plans... Not really happy, these are not for the faint of heart. Make sure they work for your application before you order.

I used 3 Sugatsune hinges for a custom, eight foot high x 30 inch wide hidden door with a cabinet cantilevered across the front of it - that all together weighed approximately 150 pounds. The hinge adjustments allowed for a perfectly flat surface with the adjacent walls. The hinges handle the weight with a smooth and easy swing without a hint of wobble or sag. Truly a high quality product and highly recommended.

I bought these hinges for a trapdoor on my deck. The hinges are great - heavy duty and look nice. One problem is that they are not rated for outdoor use. I would buy these if I needed a hidden hinge indoors, but had to return them since they wouldn't work in my application.

They are pricy but good! The description is a little confusing on what you get. You just get 1 hinge. Very heavy duty and smooth hinge. Opens super easy and works well if you are using a magnet catch for the door.
