Fortune Teller? No-It's Strategic Leadership
I pre-ordered this book in December and have been looking forward to its arrival, which occurred this week. It was well worth the wait! I've read, enjoyed and learned from every book previously written by these authors. This book continues the trend. I work with the CMOE organization and have facilitated sessions on strategic thinking with many companies. The insights and guidance provided in this book go beyond understanding what it means to apply strategic thinking and helps us weigh our own behaviors and qualities related to thinking and leading strategically. It will help leaders at every level get "on the balcony" more often. We can't slow the speed at which the future comes at us but can surely navigate into and through it more effectively. This book has helped me better prepare myself for the future in my personal and professional arenas....and I believe it can do the same for you.

This is the third book I have read by the authors and was not disappointed. The information was timely and the writing is both entertaining and applicable. As an HR professional, I understand the importance in today's fast paced and competitive business environment to hire, engage and retain our partners (employees). While the first two books (Ahead of the Curve and Strategy is Everyone;s Job) offered operational insights and skills from the bottom up, The Art of Strategic Leadership provides the management insights and skills. I highly recommend reading this book with a pen, paper and highlighter close by. You will want to jot notes on how to motivate your leadership team immediately!

A "Revitalized Path Forward"
The authors persuasively draw you in. I could easily relate to rhe narrative, thinking "I've been that person in that situation. I've struggled with the same issues". Even more important to me was I could relate to the learnings as a path forward and see myself and my people on the other side. The authors gently nudge you to ask the question 'what's holding you back' and then provide a practical set of skills and a method to follow to create a culture which thinks and acts strategically, benefitting from the experiences of the past vs being enslaved by them. Admittedly I am biased having worked with CMOE in the past. That experience makes the argument to pick up this 'must read' even more compelling in that it is a true reflection of the authors' actual collaborative approach to their business relationships.,

Read to become more strategic in your approach!
I have collaborated with the authors and their organization (CMOE) both as a client and a facilitator. This book's practical approach to leadership is helpful for both top-level leaders, mid-level managers, or new leaders just starting out. Readers will learn from real-life stories how to become more effective in their own situations, facing similar challenges. I would recommend this book to those looking to advance in their career, as it helps them get out of weeds, and become more strategic.

A must read
In my mind, this book should be required reading for every leader and entrepreneur. I found it to be unlike any other book on strategic leadership because it looks at leadership from another angle and explains what it takes to be someone who thinks ahead, is less reactionary and is prepared for the future. The format and style makes it an engaging, quick read. I appreciate that it provides practical suggestions and is a great companion text to the authors' other books.

Add this to your collection!
You don't have to be a manager, executive or business leader to get value out of this book. I believe the principles in this book apply to any level of worker across multiple work environments. This book has many examples that are easy to translate into action in your own work environment. I highly recommend adding this to your collection!

Good contents but...
This book is a great source of information about leadership but, to my personal taste, I would have stripped the "story mode" part (the first part of each chapter). Maybe it's because I am an academic type of reader but it did not help me understand the leadership concepts that were explained in the second part of each chapter.
