Stunning reproduction
This little Ushabti statue of Nekhbet, the Vulture Goddess looks exactly as it looks in the picture, except that the quality and attention to detail can't be fully appreciated on a screen. It's an amazing reproduction, like all of Design Toscano's opus I've seen. The color is a vivid, almost startling lapis lazuli, and the finish is shaded and nuanced. From only a short distance, it looks like it's carved from lapis though it's resin. The pedestal is carved with hieroglyphs. Amelia Peabody could read them but sadly, not I.My husband says Nekhbet gives him the creeps, but I like her a lot. I pointed out that she is the Egyptian Vulture Goddess, and he said, "Of course, she is." I don't think he truly gets it.Just as an aside, I also have the Design Toscano statue of Antinous as Osiris. It's a reproduction of a Roman statue and despite the common Egyptian theme, the two are very different. Osiris is refined and human. Nekhbet is primitive and symbolic. Osiris almost speaks, and I wouldn't be surprised if he spoke English or Italian, but it's easy to imagine Nekhbet standing vigil in a silent tomb for millennia.

beautiful concept and design with a mediocre paint job
I love the concept and design, but the paint finishing leaves something to be desired. It looks a little too "new" and plasticky, where a more antiquated look would have been better. The size and weight are very nice, however, and the non-paint aspects look great. It would have also been nice to have some information come with this. Perhaps since I am a vine reviewer, this is not the final version, and normally it comes with historical information? I would hope this is the case. (It did not impact the number of stars given).Beautiful and interesting, though not the best paint job.

This statue is a fun item, but perhaps not created for serious display
This statue is a fun item, but perhaps not created for serious display. I actually got it to pass on to a child who loves Egypt and mythology. She loved it and now prominently displays it in her room. It would also be great for a classroom setting. Even if it isn’t used as a serious study item, it’s a great piece of décor and it’s a bit of a conversation starter, especially in a classroom that may be studying Egyptian culture or mythology. Would also be an awesome gift for a history teacher or just history buffs in general. The blue color is very bright. This wouldn’t match décor in most houses, I don’t think. The base is more of a gold. I don’t particularly like the colors together, myself, but I suppose it’s colored according to the culture it derives itself from.Fun item, not to be taken seriously. Recommended for anyone who loves Egyptian mythology or in learning environments.

Great addition to my decor.
This is a neat little decoration. It looks good in my apartment with my current decor. It looks pretty much exactly as pictured (nine inches high, candle not included), so if you think this is something that you'd like in you living space, then go ahead and pick it up. Cheers!

Nice quality ancient Egyptian reproduction
This is a reasonably heavy-weight recreation of an 'ushabti', or ancient Egyptian funeral figurine. The detailing of the manufacture and paint is very good, with almost the entire figure covered with hieroglyphs. I really like how this looks as an ornament on the windowsill of my office. I'm very happy with this - a great item for egyptophiles.

Looks a bit cheap
I got this because I thought it would go well with my Egyptian Book of the Dead papyrus. It would do, if the blue colour was just a little less vivid, and maybe a little more turquoise. Apart from that, I really don't like the way the hands seem to be stuck on as an afterthought, and the shiny surface makes it look quite plasticky. This could have been a lot nicer than it actually is, with very little extra effort or cost.

Attractive historical figurine
I'm truly impressed with this. My son is very interested in anything that conjures up images of ancient times and was over the moon when I gave him this. The level of detail is outstanding and I think the lapis blue is really striking and perfect for the subject matter. It feels quite solid and well made and will make a great bit of quirky decor.
