Cold SteelTactical Pocket Folding Knife, Spartan

Don't let the name fool you this knife doesn't come six six pack abs and 299 friends. However its the best pocket knife this hunchback could have asked for. I bought my Spartan back in 2016 and it is still sharp. The build quality is the best I've seen on anything close to it's price range. My biggest feature I was concerned with was the folding aspect of the knife. Like most idiots I've stabbed stuff too strong for the mechanism to be able to withstand and had I fold back cutting the the top of my fingers. I believe the advertised stress test they did on these to see how much weight it took to get the blade to either break of the mechanism to fail. You can trust this knife once locked will not hurt you unless you suck at handling a knife. That said if you had to rely on this knife in a fight with the invading hordes to your homelands it ought to be a perfect weapon in that the handle fits your hand so perfect you know it won't slip or fall out of your grip in anyway. The automatic drawing mechanism is really cool too. It does work very well. Although the way your hand naturally grips it when withdrawing from your pocket isn't exactly lined up perfectly. With a bit of practice I was able to make it work well enough for me. Just know if you had to pull it in a hurry it might not be in a great position for your hand to grab it once the blade deploys. Like I did you should practice with it so you won't feel too reluctant to use it against anything Frank Miller can dream up. All this is to say it is a perfect everyday carry knife. I am considering buying a few more just to have incase mine gets lost. Although, unlike other knives I've owned before, the Spartan stays clipped in very well. It's never caught on something and pulled out because the clip stays firm to the handle yet is easy to attach to your pocket. Don't buy a $300.00 plus knife when you could get this one.

This is by far the sharpest knife I have ever received out of the box! The Kukri designed blade is amazing. The handle, which is the feature that originally got me interested in this knife, feels just as I thought it would & allows for incredible grip no matter how u hold it. The thumb stud is ambidextrous & also incorporates a "wave " style feature which means when pulling the knife out of ur pocket (as long as u use the clip, tip up) the stud is designed to catch the edge if your pocket deploying the blade extremely fast, with a very authoritative "snap " as it locks open. This technique is very easy to execute. I never had a knife with this feature & was able to open t be knife this way every time after my 2nd try. The lock is advertised as Cold Steels Tri-Ad Lock & is a lock back design. I don't think there is a stronger locking system out there & the Tri-Ad Lock basically turns this folder into a fixed blade knife. There is 0 wobble & locks up tight. The blade is perfectly straight when folded. The only issue u had , & this is very minor, is the thumb stud was slightly loose out of the box. The screw holding it on uses a common sized Allen wrench & was quickly tightened. Eventually I will take out every screw & add a lil blue loctite, not cuz this knife has a problem w/loose screws, I do this with EVERY new knife I buy. I can't say enough about how muck.I live this knife. Keep in mind, if u are the type that thinks a heavy pocket knife will slow u down or need a knife so light that u forget it's there ,then this isn't for u. This thing is BIG! Honestly, I like my EDC knives on the bigger side & I like a little weight to my knife, but even I was surprised when I got my hands on this beast. At 1st I thought there was no way I was going to carry this thing. But after a couple days, I did get used to it & now it is my EDC. I also were cargo pants all the time & all my pants are loose fitting, so I am able to carry it & still put other things in that pocket. Also, Cold Steel changed to a better steel they use to make this knife, which to me says the price will only go up, so snag one now while they are still available at this price. Semper Fidelis.
