All in all, buy it until something even better comes along!
So I looked all over Amazon and this was the best light for my application. It is bright enough, long lasting and functions better than the cheap battery powered ones I've had from china in the past.I did however knock off a third of star for the fact that there is no always on mode for the light or the UV which would have been very useful!I knocked another third of a star because you can't adjust the sensing range which also would have been very useful. I know the product did not advertise this but it's also about expectations in a product review! Finally I knocked off another third of a star because the magnet was not on the product side rather than on the adhesive attachment side. This was a burden because I planned to stick it right to a metal surface without having to use the adhesive next which I thought would just be a sheet of metal. Also the area is recessed a little with a weak but sufficiently powerful magnet that fills that area. Of course this saves the manufacturer money on additional materials (sheet metal) at our convenience.Bonus Tip: I found that using a long enough piece of black duct tape folded over will attach this to any clean surface without having to use the adhesive yet in case you're not sure if its location will be permanent or intentionally using it in a temporary place.

These lights make life easier in surpisng places, and the seller offers great customer service.
These oxyled lights are fantastic. We started out with 2 (without the UV feature)—one on each soft-close Ikea tall pantry in the kitchen. We attached them to the pantry doors so they come on “magically” when we open the doors when the kitchen is a bit dark. (The lights don’t come on when the kitchen is in full light during the day, but we can turn them on manually if we need to.) Now we can see our spice shelf and everything else. The magnets with sticky tape were easy to stick on the doors, and they hold the lights firmly. When we need to remove the lights to charge them (micro-to-USB charger), we have to apply a bit of force to remove them, so we know that we don’t need to worry about the magnets being weak.Next, we ordered one to put just inside the bedroom door so we have light when we go out into the living room in the middle of the night. No more stumbling around in the dark. It’s very bright, but our bedrodoor is inside a small hall around the corner from the bedroom proper, so the light that ends up in the part where the bed is is a soft light that doesn’t wake the other person. We then ordered 2 more—one for each shelf in our buffet cabinet where we keep serving dishes. The buffet cabinets are fairly deep and are therefore rather dark. We mounted the lights on the underside of each shelf (i.e., so the light is above the dishes on the shelf we're trying to light up), in the middle of the shelf. The placement means we need to stick our hand inside the cabinet and wave our hand to trigger the motion sensor; we didn’t want the light to trigger every time we open the cabinet because we often need something in the very front, for which we don’t need a light. No need to waste the power in those circumstances. But when we need to see deeper into the cabinet, these lights brilliantly light up everything. We love the lights so much that we realised we needed one in our coat closet. This one ended up being the light with the UV feature. We didn’t realise that’s what we were ordering, but it’s fine. *If* the UV works as described (I’m a little skeptical), then the coat closet is just the spot for it. If it doesn’t work, well, that’s ok too. The purple light looks cool—we can see it through the crack in the door, so it’s fun to see the glow. We mounted this one just inside the closet on the door frame above the top of the door. The ability to see all the coats, cat carriers, umbrellas, etc., as soon as we open the door and without fumbling, is fantastic. The chargers are different for the 2 types of lights. The non-UV light has the charger in the end of the light itself, so in order to charge the light, one removes the light from the magnet and takes the light to charging source is. The UV light has a removable charger that’s about 2” or so long. That’s the part that gets plugged into the micro-to-USB charger, so the light can stay attached to the magnet if one wishes. The charging section doesn’t change the length of the light itself. The light is the same length as the non-UV style.Customer service is also spectacular. ThousandOaks sent me an email after we ordered our second set of lights to see if we’d d had any problems. We actually had—one of the lights wouldn’t light up, and the charging indicator showed both a “charged” and “uncharged” colour. I hadn’t had time to return the light to amazon, so I mentioned it to the seller and let them know that we’d be sending it back. (We weren’t annoyed about the malfunction. After all, life’s not perfect. I certainly don’t constantly perform my job without error!) The seller immediately sent a replacement and told me not to hassle with returning the broken one.

Charge doesn't last very long
Let me start by saying the light itself is great. The motion sensor works great. The UV light works great. Mounting is easy.....everything about this product is great EXCEPT the charge life. I initially bought this light (x2) to replace the older AA battery motion lights in which the batteries had to be replace about every couple of months or so. These new RECHARGEABLE lights only lasted about ONE WEEK before running completely down. I have one it the hallway and one in the bathroom, so they only come on...maybe 2 to 3 times a night at the most. So if you want to use these in an area that isn't used very often, then this light might be ok. (not sure how long the charge will last while being mostly UN-used. Had to give a 3 star only due to the short battery life

…………
love these. They're just the right brightness and softness for under my kitchen cupboards. They're well made and feel sturdy. I have tried some that felt like they might fall apart in my hand. These are not like that at all. So far, I'm super happy. I have them on motion, and they're just sensitive enough. I've ordered a few more. I'll come back and post again once I have an idea of charge life.

Great for a short time, should cost less
I love these and at the same time, I am disappointed. They are great, but only for a couple of days before they need recharging again. And I am not in that area of the room that they are being used very often. But only after a few times a day, after 2 days, they need recharging. Secondly, they have a switch that is supposed to give you the option the have them in the 'ON' position. This setting does not work on any of the units that I have. They only work in the 'AUTO' position or OFF. They cost too much for the quality.

AWESOME lights!!!
These things are awesome. We redid our master closet with organizers and wanted a way to not only light up but also have the UV functionality. I bought four for the top of my closet organizers but will now be purchasing four more for the bottom part of the organizers because they work so well. They are made well, the batteries hold a charge and being just micro usb they are super easy to charge. Highly recommend these and would be cool for under kitchen cabinets, gun safes, and many more.

I'm pretty happy with this
I'm pretty happy with this. We leave it off when not in use so it doesn't run down the battery. It seems to go in a softer light mode when not actively working which I imagine would kill the battery life pretty fast. When all the way on, it's pretty bright! Exactly what I needed.

Outstanding customer service
Outstanding product and customer service. I have six of these lights and they all work perfectly. I had a slight problem with one of the battery packs and it was immediately replaced! Buy one or more you won’t be disappointed.
