Works out of the box on macOS
I bought this to connect to a Protectli Vault running OPNsense from a MacBook Pro and it works fine. It was immediately detected on macOS without having to install any drivers. Once the serial port was enabled on the OPNsense end it connected to the console with no problem at all.

Fit for purpose connectivity
Cable enabled good connectivity to undertake configuration tasks on a TP link managed switch from a pc.I checked the cable parity, polarity and signal continuity with an industry analysis meter. Which returned a pass.Connector quality appear of a good standard with each terminator housed in a moulded shroud to provide resilience during regular use.I would only add the ‘obvious’ -Users advised to familiarise themselves with the process to establish a link between devices.One common mistake, is to leave resident eth plugs jacked in to the switch whilst trying to connect. The interface needs to be empty for the comms link to establish.Others will have different views.

Works for traditional serial devices but not on Cisco

Not working on my Mac and HP laptops
No indication on the cable what category it is. Failed to connect on my MacBook Pro and HP laptops. No signal indication light at all on the router. Returned.

Macht was es soll aber..
Das Kabel an sich hat eine gute Qualität und macht auch, was es soll, aber einen harken hat es doch. Plug-and-Play wie beschrieben ist es nicht. Ich musste mir erst die Treiber installieren, damit ich es nutzen konnte. Es sollte mehr darauf geachtet werden, was in der Beschreibung steht und Amazon sollte dies besser kontrollieren, damit keine fehl Informationen an den Kunden übergeben werden. Deswegen gibt es nur 4 Sterne.
