REALFLIGHT 9: RF9 Radio Control RC Flight Simulator Software Only (Controller Not Included), RFL1101

No big problems with this simulator so far. I was able to use an aftermarket USB dongle for connecting up my Spektrum radio. I have had an issue with the program crashing if I turn off the controller before shutting down the software. Other than that, I haven't had any problems. If you are looking to upgrade from 7.5, not sure if it is worth it, however you do get VR capabilities (not earth shattering, but neat nonetheless) and more current Horizon Hobby aircraft.

It has many models to fly and lots of airports. Some allow you to change camera perspective. Very realistic. I can practice anytime and not worry about crashing. Has safe mood and Asx3. It’s addictive. This is a must for all levels. My palms sweat when things go wrong.....just like being at the air field.

It takes in all aspects of flight, even wind and other weather conditions. You can configure almost any type of airplane or helicopter. You can simulate any type of RC flying and the graphics are amazing.

I've had this simulator for some time and upgraded it to version 9.5. It functioned on my older PC in 2D or VR mode using my HP Reverb G2 headset; however the graphics card performance wasn't good enough to support the 90Hz. the headset needed for good motion graphics. I built a new AMD gaming system with an ASUS ROG STRIX x570E motherboard and an AMD RX 6700XT graphics card. Now RF doesn't function at all while my other simulators have no problems (Heli-X10 & X10VR, AccuRC & AccuRCVR). The manual claims that if a headset is not found on startup, RF will startup in 2D mode; that's not true. It starts up by calling STEAMVR, which is the VR version of STEAM; it shouldn't and then hangs up. So far, no solutions from Horizon; but, there's a fault in RF somewhere, my other simulators work fine as they should!

After only a month I went from constant walks of shame to always landing at my feet. My only disappointment was no Flite Test models.

Installs easily.

As others have reported here, the DVD install didn't work (it just spins), however you can download the *.exe from their web site and it installed flawlessly for me. Compared to my previous version, this new RF9 isn't much of an update. This simulator WILL teach you how to fly RC model aircraft and save money by avoiding (landing) crashes. My old USB (transmitter) controller from my previous version works fine.
