Q: Why carbon zinc battery and not alkaline battery required?

This clock is beautiful to look at in addition to providing useful information in our pool setting. As for the battery construction, there is no way the average purchaser would know the answer to that question. I certainly do not. Were I curious I would direct this question to the company as I am sure that was a known detail to purchase and sell that clock. I do not remember installing any kind of special battery and it works fine. Buy it and enjoy!

You don’t need a thermometer. It’s on the clock. It’s very accurate.

Q: any reports of humidity getting inside of face plate causing paper number face to wrinkle?

I have mine on an outside wall and there has been no issue with moisture or humidity. I just received it a couple of months ago though, so I haven't been through the hot summer yet. It is protected by an overhang, so I hope I don't have that issue.

Q: Can the humidity and temperature be adjusted on the clock?

The humidity and temperature changes according to the weather. Works really well!
