Needs a 12 volt power supply for signal amplifier
I was trying to get it up on top of the mast and off the deck. Does not do as well as cheap made for house antenna that I zip tied onto the shrouds. My biggest complaint is that, they're splitter signal amplifier means a 12 volt power supply. Of course the boat has plenty of 12 volt power supply just not at the base of the mast. All the 12 volt power supply to the mast are lights that you don't want on when not necessary. So, to supply that power you need to run a dedicated line just for that ridiculousness. There's a TV plugged in there with 110 AC power. Why do they need to have a 12 volt amplifier? I recommend you do not buy this item.

Actually works!
I have been through most antenna types offered. All suck for home use and are even worse on a boat - except this one.On the hook with most antenna's I'll have it scan for channels and then it finds about 10 channels. We are usually line of sight with NYC so 25 mile range is more than close enough to expect some reception. Typical problem, wife starts to watch a show and the tide shifts or wind blows and we are pointed the other way - the signal is gone. Plane flyes overhead, signal gone.Someone mentioned that they heard good things about this antenna so I tried it yesterday. Impressed. Just placed it on the helm without a mast, 40 channels reported available. Everything seemed to be there. No problem with the tide, a little blip interference from the planes. Made a permanent installation and now happy wife happy life.Ordering another one. Going to be interesting having a boat antenna on my house.

Most satisfied with form-factor!
First, I like the form-factor and it was easy to install and set-up. Installed on a Shakespeare 12" SS extension pole with a Shakespeare rail mount to get it above my radar antenna on the same radar bracket. It is installed 18'-20' above the waterline and the coax is routed through the mast. At best, I receive nine HD channels in the Dana Point Harbor; line of sight to San Diego (75-miles away). This is the same performance other in the harbor claim to enjoy from other HD TV antenna products. The signal is strongest at night when the atmosphere is cooler. Absolutely no reception during the day during the most recent heat wave 80-90 degrees F.

About what I expected, and I'm kinda picky.
There must have been an older version that didn't have the amplifier, but this one does, plugged it into a tv at home, cranked right up, found 41 local channels, next step is see how it works on the boat. Packaging could have been a little better, but it looks good so far, hope the amplifier holds up to the marine environment.

Looks good but doesn’t work
Due to the prior mixed reviews of this product I performed 2 temporary installations to see how many channels I would receive. I compared it to a directional amplified antenna we purchased a few months ago that receives over 40 channels. First placement was near the current antenna, about same height. After doing channel scan 3 times, the best it could do was 4 channels. Next I put it on the boat at the same height as the mast it would be mounted on. A little better- got 13 channels. But only PBS, ABC and FOX, no CBS or NBC. I am frustrated that you cant find a TV omnidirectional antenna for a boat that works and looks good. I considered the same brand in the 19” flying UFO style since the reviews are a bit better but I think the 19” flying UFO is too big for my boat and would look silly.

Antenna or location?
The jury is still out on this purchase. We changed marinas before trying at our old marina & have buildings/obstructions we didn't have before so have noticed a definite decrease in signal strength from using our VHF radio antenna 65' up for TV signals. At this point, we can't tell if the decrease in signal is the antenna or our location. We do like the compact format as our radar/antenna pole is crowded & a "flying saucer" format antenna wouldn't work.
