Packaged shirataki spaghetti. Shirataki (in Japanese 白 滝, in English shirataki noodles) are a type of spaghetti derived from the root of the konjac, a plant native to the subtropical temperate Asian area. Characteristics: they have a low carbohydrate content and are therefore particularly suitable for all diets based on a limited carbohydrate intake and suitable for diabetics. They are also poor in other macronutrients and this leads to a very low specific intake of calories compared to Italian pasta. They are mostly composed of water and glucomannan. The term "shirataki", which describes the appearance of spaghetti, means "white waterfall".
