Drivin Wheels: Best of 1972-1982

It's about time someone released this- an in-depth compilation of one of the seventies pre-eminent boogie-rock bands that includes the full-length versions of both "Slow Ride" and "Fool for the City." In fact, there are no single edits here at all. Considering that classic rock radio left behind the single versions of these songs long ago, meaning that most people, especially those new listeners who were not even born when these songs were aired, are only familiar with the full-length versions, it was a major oversite by the various labels that they kept churning out endless compilations containing single edits no one wanted. But now, that error has been corrected, and with gorgeous sound quality and extensive liner notes to boot. And while the inclusion of live versions of songs on the second disk that are already present as studio tracks on the first may seem redundant on paper, after hearing them it becomes evident that they really show how much more powerful this hard-rocking band could be in concert; so, you end up not minding the reprise at all, and in fact welcome it.While one might quibble about the exclusion of one fan favorite or another, for most, this will be the only Foghat they will ever need-- but once they have it, they will consider it a need.

full length remastered versions of the foghat classics. best sound,much improved from the old rhino best of vol. 1+2. raven does a great job on their reissues. this one has great liner notes and pictures from back in the day. highly recommended.

This is a very good over view of Foghat's 10 years of great tunes. The remastering sounds excellent on these discs, much better than the Rhino cds.
