Almost four decades later and still with a WOW factor
When I decided to read Flowers in the Attic, along with this book again after 36 years, I made sure to check my expectations before opening the cover. This was a good thing as Flowers was the first one I picked up. But Audrina was QUITE the surprise! After all this time, it holds its own in terms of suspense and mystery, hinting at villains and possible villains everywhere you turn.Though I’d read it and remembered most of it (going on four decades, remember?) I was still so appreciative of the masterful subplots that would wend their way throughout the entire book, so that every time there was a reveal, and you thought you’d figured it out, you’d find later it was only a set-up for an even bigger reveal!Occasionally, I enjoy going back and reading books that impacted me during my teenage years. It’s rare I find a book that can hold its own, when read at my age in today’s world. It’s that good a dark-themed mystery, drenched in villains, licentious sex and more evil than you could imagine. And that’s pretty much just the immediate family.Definitely not recommended for your religious-based book clubs or those who like to read a lot of Fiona Valpy. Trust me on this one.

My Sweet Audrina
Great book. Enjoyable to read.

A soap opera on steroids!
This book epitomizes everything that is wrong with soap operas. There is murder after murder and in that way, it is a clear who done it novel that reads like a dime store gothic tale of mixed emotions, sex, confusion, and seduction. I got a glimpse of whitefern at the end and immediately caught inconsistencies in the story of the second book as compared to the first. The first book was well written and full of drama. The second one I can tell at a glance, not so much. In the second book, Ardens character is so different, cruel, and consistently cold you will not recognize him. The first book is okay for a bit of light reading but I am not going to bother with the second. I did not like the preview.

An Emotional Rollarcoaster
Firstly I want to say that this is a very good book. The first section was hell to get through, but after that it sped up and blew me away! It churns my stomach to think things like V.C. Andrews writes are happening to people out in the world. This book angered me very much! I thought Audrina was smart, but when she stayed at the house at the ending, I was done. Vera is a hateful wench whom I did not feel sorry for at all. Like get over it, Daddy doesn't love you, does that give you the excuse to set up the rape of your younger sister? No I don't think so. Also the rape scene broke my heart so much! It was very hard to read, a little through and I'd have to set the book down for a minute. Arden is the worst guy I have every read in a novel! I had so much hate boiling toward him near the end. And it's not mainly because he did nothing to help Audrina, but because when she needed him most he was fooling around with stupid Vera! Only person I sympathize with is Damien and Ellie. Damien was only trying to do the right thing, and save his daughter from a life filled with depression. This book will bring about so many emotions so prepare yourself!

This book is bizarre
From beginning to end this book is just strange. Audrina is an extremely mature girl of 7 years old who can't remember anything leading up to the day the story begins. Her 'Papa' puts forces her to rock in a rocking chair so she can experience some sort of supernatural healing process. Her mother and Aunt have weekly teatimes with their dead best friend Mercy Marie who's photo sits on the piano while her mother and Aunt exchange bitter barbs between them. This story also has many echoes of characters and themes from other VC Andrews books: the bitter and violently jealous sister, the childhood puppy love that turns into an early marriage, family secrets, old money, a large and gloomy mansion. The book will keep you guessing but mainly I tossed around a few explanations for the secret behind the First and Best Audrina, knowing that more than likely one of them would be correct. Its not a bad book but Audrina becomes tiresome by the end of the book and the recurrence of 'accidents' in the home becomes a bit too much to be believable. I also thought there were a few loose ends that weren't quite tied up and the ending is BAD. Just awful. It ends in a hurry as if VC Andrews just wanted to be done with it already and couldn't figure out how to make Audrina go out with a bang.

AMAZING AUTHOR!!
Amazing book, by an amazing author. For those who find it to be "trashy", I would say chances are you missed the point. This, as with her other books, are complex, emotional, detailed psychological thrillers. She does a great job at expressing the different emotions and the different reactions people can have during traumatic events. She helps bring an understanding to different mental illness and problems. She helps you connect with the characters, and sympathize with ones you hated when you first began reading the story. I read this and some of her others in a dark time in my life, and her writing helped me gain new understandings and even learn things about myself. There is a good reason these books were on my mother's child psychology class reading list. Yes they are messed up, the main characters make horrible decisions that make you angry with them, yet deep down they are good people. The point is to show things that can go on behind closed doors, and why some people do things we don't understand. I have and will continue to recommend this author. Just like my mother did, I intend to pass her books along to my children eventually.

Melhor livro que já li na vida, basicamente. E não tem nada a ver com o filme da lifetime. Vale muito a pena

Typical Virginia Andrews
I read this novel after read the Flowers in the Attic books, which I loved, and although My Sweet Audrina in my opinion wasn't as good, it was still worth a read. The book is chilling, and very strange, and to be honest, I'd expect no less from the suthor. As the reader I reached out to Audrina who I came to adore and hated the character of Vera. The novel is set in a wonderful Victorian house, near some woods, which all makes it the more creepy. The only problem was I had my doubts from the start about the whole outcome of the mystery and about half way through everything fell into place and I knew, but I still continued to read, and am glad I did.
